Sorry are you a presenter of a YouTube channel about cars? His channel is literally about cars to ignoring it defeats the object of his channel.

A Model T does literally nothing for me but you have to appreciate its contribution same as the Miura.

My point is regardless of opinions or even is opinion on cars as I’ve stated above it’s just a business to him he doesn’t buy a car because HE wants it. He buys it because it makes financial sense.

He’s part of the wider problem if Porsche gave him a car is he going to say it’s a terrible car nope because Porsche won’t give him another free car to drive for a bit. I just want a genuine opinion.

On the free thing why watch rct. there’s only a few channels I watch (Harry’s,DW,Tyrell’s,Frank Stephenson,LBS and jay)the only reason I know what shmee even does is people posting it on this thread.
Lmao you what

So because he has a Youtube channel he cant have a personal opinion on cars and choose what he does and doesn't film? Get a grip

How do you know he doesn't appreciate the Miura, has he ever said that or are you jumping to a conclusion based on not much fact at all other than he once panned past one on a video once.
I literally said I don’t care for his opinion. He can chose whatever cars he wants to have an interest in my point is I just find it all a bit false.
He will buy a car for views not for the love of the car. Is that a “petrol head”? If everyone bought a car by spread sheet no one would buy an Alfa Romeo or most things Italian because it makes no logical sense when you compare it to something German or Japanese.

Am I not allowed to have an opinion ? I don’t don’t think he’s that into cars must come as a shock someone doesn’t think the same as you get over yourself mate

Couple of points worth mentioning here.

1. I have lost count of the number of times I have totally forgotten to mention something important/noteworthy in a video. I am terrible for it. Every time you hear a voiceover from me that's a mistake being corrected after the fact.

2. There is a common misconception about YouTubers saying only nice things for fear of not getting another press car. For some strange reason nobody applies the same to magazine journos when even the likes of Harry have said how many times they got raked over the coals by certain manufacturers upset they did not get a five star rating (Eg. Aston DB9).

Porsche in particular I can assure you are quite thick skinned - look at the review I did of the 911 C2 and the Cayman 4.0. I still have a laugh and a joke with them and get cars. Same with Audi, I have given a couple of their cars a right drubbing and gotten more.

Only one manufacturer ever had a proper go at me, and by proper I mean threatening to go legal type thing. The funny thing is I have never actually even had a press car from them! (And it wasnt McLaren)
1. Your aware of it though and you can tell you do your homework in your videos. I’m not going to expect every fact to be bang on I’m not going to be that critical.

2. Fair one on that point but you’ve backed it up with your McLaren videos shows that you will say it as it is and that’s what I value personally. I only used Porsche as an example I should have said any manufactures. Mate that’s the reason why I watch your videos there’s no BS there who else would review an FC and gen 1 vanquish. But yet put as much enjoyment and work into the both. Not many!

That’d make more sense to be fair, I seem to recall he had a fair few issues with his Evora. Aston Martin have had their beef with a few journalists and influencers too over the years, hence why I initially thought AM.

But you literally do care or you wouldn't be on here moaning that he didn't mention a Miura lol

I've clearly hit a nerve, sorry to upset you, wasn't trying to incite an argument so I'll leave this here

I can sort of agree with the Petrolhead quote I mean in one of his videos he completely blanks a Miura in a garage walkthrough to lust over some Merc. Sums him up really.
The biggest problem with your comment is that you don’t know what he did off camera. Maybe he went back and had a good look round, but decided not to put it into the video as it wasn’t beneficial to his demographic.

For what it’s worth, I can assure you Tim is a massive petrolhead who respects cars from all genres and eras. I’ve worked with Tim on a couple of projects, filmed some videos and have attended events with him so I’d like to think I know what I’m talking about.

This. As has been said multiple times before, Tim and Shmee are not the same person.

Tim is a really nice guy and proper petrolhead. People talk about him only buying cars "for views", but if that was the case he'd have sold his 675LT long ago, never bought the DBS, not bought another Lusso, kept his Taycan, etc....

Fair one I don’t know him personally so if you know Tim. I’ll take your word on it.

Maybe that’s where I’ve gone wrong. Assuming Tim and Shmee are the same person.

So, I am filming a "fleet update" video today, but as you asked nicely:

Celica was taken to MK Auto last year, they seem to be regarded as "the" Celica people. It was a two part affair, find the faults with the car and fix them - plus do some of the upgrades I had planned. As they are 200 odd miles from me I wanted to get everything done in one hit so when it returns I can just enjoy it.

The turbo was on its way out, as expected - so was the gearbox. Both of those have been replaced with refurbished ones. A bunch of suspension components were replaced. I must confess I had a chuckle when he called me and said "you need a new suspension arm and they're really expensive". About £300 was the cost and I think Italians have melted my brain because I thought crikey that's cheap!

Annoyingly there was a little corrosion found the body shop missed but easily tended to. we are also putting a cat back on the car (I hate decats). A new ECU has been fitted also, and it is currently awaiting remapping. I never wanted big power from it, the car always felt healthy anyway. Around 300 or so is the aim.

We are just awaiting mapping now which has been delayed as the chap has some personal issues he is dealing with
Thanks jayemm, looking forward to the update. Have been semi seriously hunting for a nice example in the last few weeks here in NZ, seems I may have missed the boat price wise though, either mega bucks for a mint one, or almost mega bucks for one that's going to require a lot of work and $$.

An easy mistake to make. I think it is likely true of nearly all people on-camera (and even some in print) that the version of them you see is something of an act. That doesn't always mean false, it just means that isn't the person you get off-camera.

Good to see Danny back racing again. It looks like he’s got his own film crew this year! Some good editing of the race footage.

The car seems to be handling much better this season although there are still some gearbox issues. I hope he does the full season, and gets some sponsorship.

Since YouTube have done away with the traditional likes-dislikes bar have any of the content producers on here noticed a change in the likes-dislikes they've been receiving?

Mine seems to hover around 98-99% like to dislike over the past few years (bar the odd outlier) so for me, no.

Yeah great result for Danny, looks like he has improved the car over the winter, and got the fueling sorted just before race day.

I'm glad he's racing again this year.

Do any of the avid YT watchers on here use the 'Dislike' button regularly?

I only ever press it if I've searched for something and the video ends up being not related to the title, if I think a video is dull, poor quality I just stop watching.

I'm fairly mean with the Like button too and only use it when I think something is of exceptional quality, but I've seen other people (mainly younger people) liking everything they watch (and the same with Instagram pictures).

Just listening to the Seen Through Glass Under £20k podcast, can anyone enlighten me as to how Tony thinks you don't pay tax when financing a car given you need to earn money to pay the finance and you'll pay tax on that income before you pay the finance?

Wtf?!
Covered above/previous pages - he's a used car dealer, so there is some leeway needed to be given to pretty much anything he says, and doubly so when it relates to money/finance.
I’m surprised Sam didn’t pick him up on this. He was again heavily plugging the finance company he uses. But hey, he’s never had to finance a 20k car

I'm in the camp that all feedback is good feedback.

I add a like for anything that I find informative or interesting or fun, using the logic that it will tailor suggestions to show me more of that sort of video. So most of Jayemm's stuff gets a like, as does DannyDC2, Harry etc.

I'm YT Premium so don't see the adverts that interrupt the actual video, but when someone says "and now a word from our sponsors" and then goes off on a 30 second to 5 minute promo for pants, wallets, ball-shavers etc, then that generally gets a dislike. Prime culprit is CarWow for their constant self-promotion, and stretching 2 minutes of drag races out to 10 minutes (the cynic in me says that's so they can hawk more "interrupting" adverts, even though I don't see them) - yes I get it's their business, but my god does it get tedious. Also, just stopping watching means it keeps popping up in your "next up" list, or your "continue watching" list, which irritates.

I clck like a LOT more than I click dislike, though. I just wish you could add a reason for WHY you've clicked dislike.

You dislike videos when people trying to earn a living? wow Youtube earnings have more than halfed in the last 3 years due to many reasons (including Trump's tax changes). You get to view these videos which creators make for free.

Maybe tedious, but Carwow for example funds the videos as promotion for there business.

Peoples views on how things are funded amazed me.

I pay for YT Premium so I would imagine my (and others') subscriptions play our part in funding the channels that we watch. And yes when I'm watching a video about cars, and I've paid to avoid adverts (I avoid Sky, ITV etc for similar reasons), then yes I will indicate my preference in the only way available to me if I've got a load of unrelated bumph about bamboo pants or VPNs to skip.

I know not, nor really do I care, about Trump and his tax changes.
