Well they go hand in hand with YT'bers loss in earnings (for non Americans).

YT Premium doesnt pay out more than users watching an advert before hand.

If only you had a fast forward button on videos...

You dislike videos when people trying to earn a living? wow Youtube earnings have more than halfed in the last 3 years due to many reasons (including Trump's tax changes). You get to view these videos which creators make for free.

Maybe tedious, but Carwow for example funds the videos as promotion for there business.

Peoples views on how things are funded amazed me.
I pay for YT Premium so I would imagine my (and others') subscriptions play our part in funding the channels that we watch. And yes when I'm watching a video about cars, and I've paid to avoid adverts (I avoid Sky, ITV etc for similar reasons), then yes I will indicate my preference in the only way available to me if I've got a load of unrelated bumph about bamboo pants or VPNs to skip.

I know not, nor really do I care, about Trump and his tax changes.
YT premium pays the creator less than an normal YT view, which is a shame.

I hate in-video adverts too, and turn down so many. But when youtube as a cost centre is a massive loss overall, sometimes you have to do it, and I make sure I put a timer / sliding bar on the advert and put a quick jump chapter in so people can avoid them so far. Of the few adverts I've put in videos, I've had zero complaints that I can remember, and the videos have mostly done over 200k.

I always expect way more kickback.

Donut media are doing some really great adverts at the moment, they make them fun enough to watch.

Just listening to the Seen Through Glass Under £20k podcast, can anyone enlighten me as to how Tony thinks you don't pay tax when financing a car given you need to earn money to pay the finance and you'll pay tax on that income before you pay the finance?

Wtf?!
Covered above/previous pages - he's a used car dealer, so there is some leeway needed to be given to pretty much anything he says, and doubly so when it relates to money/finance.
I’m surprised Sam didn’t pick him up on this. He was again heavily plugging the finance company he uses. But hey, he’s never had to finance a 20k car
There were many comments about this, people were saying that if you are PAYE then it makes no sense at all, so maybe Tony wasn't including these people, but he didn't say.

What about the length of time you own the car, I would have thought that many people buying a car for £20k or under would be just keeping the car for more than five years anyway and not swapping cars every six to twelve months?

However is he not correct in that you get more protection if the car is on finance?

You do also seem to get money knocked off the price of a car if you take out the finance on it, yes I know this cost ends up on the finance, but maybe if you used the £20k to invest in something else you could make back more than the finance interest.

Do any of the avid YT watchers on here use the 'Dislike' button regularly?

I only ever press it if I've searched for something and the video ends up being not related to the title, if I think a video is dull, poor quality I just stop watching.

I'm fairly mean with the Like button too and only use it when I think something is of exceptional quality, but I've seen other people (mainly younger people) liking everything they watch (and the same with Instagram pictures).
Not really no, I used to all the time on SOL's videos when I was still subbed, but I found out that being subbed and more to the point interacting even though I was disliking was in fact helping him with the algorithm, as soon as I found this out I un-subbed and blocked the channel, I only go back and look when a video is being laughed about on here on my burner phone.

I like or dislike videos if I am subbed or not, If I dislike I will comment on why I don't like it, to give context to the channel on why I don't like it.

YT is overwhelmingly a positive experience for me, adverts don't bother me at all as I'm watching some fantastic stuff for nothing.

Donut media have a great energy, really enjoy a lot of their stuff.

Tony and Sam can put vehicles as business expenses and dodge the tax, but HMRC are VERY restrictive with this and even most of the powerfully built company directors in this thread would struggle to do that without huge BIK consequences, so it would seem they weren't thinking the way 99.9% of people have to.

@ jon- IYE, how long from a tyre launch to readily available from standard suppliers like Blackcircles?

I was planning on getting Michelin CrossClimate SUV on the wife's X5 (literally had it booked for Weds) and discovered the CC2 SUV has just been released. Order cancelled and now waiting to see if they'll get the 255/55 R18 size in stock.

Judging from your excellent review, seemed like the CC2 (SUV) is worth waiting for.

Honestly, I've seen anything from -12 months to +2 years! I believe Michelin have been trying to be sharp with the CC2 SUV!

Their press release is here, don't see any dates mentioned sadly frownhttps://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/Everything-you...

Good to see Danny back racing again. It looks like he’s got his own film crew this year! Some good editing of the race footage.

The car seems to be handling much better this season although there are still some gearbox issues. I hope he does the full season, and gets some sponsorship.
Yeah great result for Danny, looks like he has improved the car over the winter, and got the fueling sorted just before race day.

I'm glad he's racing again this year.
Cheers lads, got a fair few videos in the oven currently!

Thanks for the reply Jon. Will keep an eye out. I notice some places have a few sizes in stock, just not the 255/55 R18 I need.

I listened to that pod and couldn't understand where Tony was coming from at all. Ultimately if you finance a car the payments come from taxed income.....There are tax breaks for company directors in certain circumstances but those tax breaks are impeded by having any finance.

I do like Tony and I'm in the same industry but unfortunately on this one he's completely lost me.

The only benefit of taking finance for the demographic he was talking about is not that you aren't drawing dividends to pay for a car outright and one thing he didn't mention is that it might be the other way around where you have the cash but can make better use of the cash for example buying property that generates cash which then offsets the finance payments.

And neither are options for the common man.

He has a S3 on his site. Santander finance links on the sales page. PCP charges are eye watering. As usual it’s terrible advice stretching people into cars they realistically can’t afford. £8k interest that’s if you have the cash for the £3.9k deposit and £16.4k balloon.

Misha's €2000 goal was met in less than one hour!

Misha stopped accepting donations after €6000 was raised, some is going towards a marshal that died at the N24 qualifying the other week.
  • I managed to get a small donation in.

Nice to see the thread was cleaned up after that bizarre post earlier.

If you don't like a particular persons content, don't watch it.

I found a bit of a niche channel recently, a guy from Oklahoma tinkering with junkyard pickups mostly.
Has a good sense of humour and isn't as daft as his persona initially suggests.

Oh wow, to the mods and people who saw that, I’m genuinely sorry, that was honestly an autocorrect error. I still had the page open and when I just came back to check replies I saw that it didn’t say Ped as intended.

As much as I dislike his videos, I don’t think of him in that way!

I have a mate that we all call ‘Ped* Pete’ so it autocorrected. Apologies again.

Still can’t stand the fact that he calls his Boxster ‘Lady Penelope’ though. Cringe-fest.

Another solid video from Sam on the Bugatti Chiron SS.

If I were in the position to get a Chiron new, I could not spec anything but exposed carbon, it's a shame to paint over it imo.

Shame to see Sam is selling his RS6 already. He really must've hated it.

If you listen to the podcast he’s said he’s got two new cars arriving imminently and needs to sell the RS6 to fund them. The one that will replace the RS6 as his daily is arriving a lot sooner than he thought.
