Second this. I am a big fan of the Behind the glass podcast/channel. Tony is so off-message that I think that even if you totally disagree with him, it's a great balance to the normally carefully curated PR fluff that we usually get served up. 614-HSO said:
You should do it!
The thing with Tony is from hearing him over the years on the podcast is what you see is what you get, he didn't have it great as a kid, didn't do well at school and iirc he left school with no qualifications, hence his "I cannot read" saying, he's got a platform to get his views across and he isn't afraid to say them.
Cannot argue that he doesn't know what he's doing, considering how well he's done for himself, yeah okay he sometimes makes a mistake on the podcast but it's all on the fly and has said he has to protect the trade when it comes to prices and what he says.
I think Tony and Sam work well together, they could not come from more different backgrounds but somehow the chemistry is there, iirc I did find him a bit annoying when he first came on the scene, but once you get to know him and more of his story he comes across as cheeky chappy, that is what happened with me, I mean not everyone likes everyone else.
I cannot wait for part two of the video, but as I said before it seems like it's going to be a bit on the short side, it could have been two hours long surely.
The reality is for a large amount of people that if they see someone who genuinely started with nothing and has properly made it and is working class that they feel that they shouldn’t be there for some reason. Sad state of things in this country. Yes he is uncouth, yes he get's a lot wrong, yes he is a bit 'east end boy' but as a juxtaposition to Sam the Earl of Whatever... it is actually a very good combo.
STG is easily my favourite youtuber and podcaster right now. He wasn't though for a long time.. so I'm no fan boi.

Having met Tony, he's very down to earth and an honest chap. He may play into that "I can't read" narrative on the Mille Miglia video, but he is a successful businessman, with a thriving car dealership. I was trying to get out of a dreadful subprime Oodle financed X Trail at the time, and he had a great selection of cars for me to consider. I think it's a good combination of the posh kid (Sam) and Cockney geezer, Sam is never condescending and the Behind The Glass podcast is great to watch, it never feels forced like Top Gear was in the Chris Evans years...
It reminded me of Sam's earlier videos where he would meet up with Lenny Urban (The Geezer) to try and learn to be a little more "street"
Much easier to watch than some offerings out there (like a lot who will stop mid-video to shill CarVertical or a watch or nutritional drink with discount codes)... some do compensate for this, Mat Armstrong managed to get the dash out of the Aston to then get the airbags replaced and for it to be re trimmed (though he might stick a near identical DBS dash off ebay in its place )
I bumped into tony at my porsche opc 3 or 4 years ago. When he was less well known.
My boss , who like me , loved his guest appearances with Sam , had been in hospital for weeks with a seroius illness.
I asked tony if he would speak to my boss too give him a gee up message.
The call was made , tony was great on a call to a lad he obviously didnt know. my boss was v chuffed to get this surprise.
So 10/10 for tony.

It's not hate - but in a world of 1000's of videos a day, and as has been mentioned on here a million times, if you don't like something then it's simple to pick something else to watch - so we did. People have explained why they don't like him (used car salesman, loudmouth, dismissive of anything that isn't brand new or selling for overs erc), so not sure why you needed to add the "some people..." bit, as if you are in some way better, or surprised that he is a marmite character? People ARE happy, to turn over, to find something else, to contribute and feed back. I'm sure Sam, Tony etc are aware of this thread, just as Jayemm, Shmee etc are, and take the feedback and use it constructively. And for everyone saying they don't like him, there are people who DO, as shown by the last few replies on here. What would your reaction be to "surprised at the love for Tony, some people have low expectations/obviously watch a lot of ITV"?
Well on a thread largely based on jealousy of privileged pretentious youtubers you get Tony who is neither and still people aren't happy!
I sense Tony has had grief through social media as he been careful about not posting on his personal cars which is a shame but you do have to be careful these days. I can't imagine his share of money from the podcast will be much to him with the successful business he has so he must be doing it for the love. I run a sports car dealership and have knocked back many "opportunities" to be on YouTube and also declined offers to deal with people involved in the space as I fully recognise the downsides and don't really see there's much of an upside for business owners in many circumstances. I can't cope with any more volume so don't promotional stuff is no value at all for me.
Tony to be fair is taking a risk in having the exposure but the pod is great. Sam is certainly one of the very very few content creators that's growing and maturing in both style and content. His drive the world series was possibly a bit ahead of its time but was a brilliant idea and I always felt it deserved many more views. I don't think there's anyone to touch him for content quality/production value at the moment. And Tony is pacifically great!

I'm sure he's probably a likeable guy in real life, I don't listen to any podcasts these days and never listened to beyond the glass, so don't know any of his backstory. Just the few times I've seen Tony appear in any video he doesn't come across as likeable to me, and I'm not going to listen to 10s of hours of podcasts to try and change my mind. As you say, plenty of new videos to choose from daily. For the same reason when Tom Cruise comes on in a film I switch to another channel because I think he's a tt that can only play himself.

Are they privileged? I always assumed they lived with M+D (as an example) - we could all run a Ferrari/Audi RS/etc if we didn't have mortgages to pay! (Does anyone take the claims that Shmee is of Biscuit/Menswear money seriously?)
As a long time lurker, I just want to say thanks to all the content creators out there. I consume a huge amount of YT content and I appreciate all the hard work that gets put in to making free videos for all of us to see. I've done some YT and streaming (gaming, not cars) I understand the effort/stress involved, and it's a lot. Let alone multiplying that by making it pay the bills! I admire anyone who can make it work, there are thousands out there who tried and failed. I'm not a huge fan of the negativity thrown around here but I suppose it does reflect the same mix as YT comments. Time to go back to work and lurking.

So because his dad has a title he is prviledged ? LOL
Nothing to do with the time and effort that he puts in to making videos and presumably the research he puts in to video editing techniques and content ideas. His story is fairly organic and I dont see much priviledge in regards to making it in this world. If i rememeber correctly he started by attaching a video camera to his head in his financed Audi TTS video cars in London on the way to and from work.

You wouldn't hear of Shmee letting marriage or a global pandemic get in the way of feeding the YouTube algorithm.

Paul Wallace did it from nothing without the help of a trust fund but he never managed to find that next gear that all the other channels did.
