I don't have a problem with Shmee. I watch his videos more than any of my other subscriptions.

What are you getting at?

Your posts come across as snide bitter digs directed at Shmee. Perhaps I've read them wrong but they seemed to fit the usual obsessive 'shmee bashing' tone of quite a few posters on here.

Not my intention.

First post you quoted I was having a bit of fun at Tim's non-stop work ethic.

Second post you quoted I was referring to the likes of STG, MrJWW, Seb Delanney whose backgrounds are very different to Paul Wallace.

Well on a thread largely based on jealousy of privileged pretentious youtubers you get Tony who is neither and still people aren't happy!

I sense Tony has had grief through social media as he been careful about not posting on his personal cars which is a shame but you do have to be careful these days. I can't imagine his share of money from the podcast will be much to him with the successful business he has so he must be doing it for the love. I run a sports car dealership and have knocked back many "opportunities" to be on YouTube and also declined offers to deal with people involved in the space as I fully recognise the downsides and don't really see there's much of an upside for business owners in many circumstances. I can't cope with any more volume so don't promotional stuff is no value at all for me.

Tony to be fair is taking a risk in having the exposure but the pod is great. Sam is certainly one of the very very few content creators that's growing and maturing in both style and content. His drive the world series was possibly a bit ahead of its time but was a brilliant idea and I always felt it deserved many more views. I don't think there's anyone to touch him for content quality/production value at the moment. And Tony is pacifically great!
Tony gets zero money from the podcast, he uses it to advertise his business, he has said this a number of times, the only thing he will get out of it is access to events where Sam will have a contact for a spare ticket and maybe a heads up on what some manufactures are saying.

Tony does get some of the prices wrong, but has said a few times he has to be careful with prices he gives out to be fair to the car trade, he would have a lot of numbers when Sam asks him for a price, there is the list price, the in-trade price and the punter price, then you have to add to this the options he knows you should have on a certain car, and he's doing it off the top of his head and to be fair most of the time he's not far off.

Are they privileged? I always assumed they lived with M+D (as an example) - we could all run a Ferrari/Audi RS/etc if we didn't have mortgages to pay!

(Does anyone take the claims that Shmee is of Biscuit/Menswear money seriously?)
Well if you've ever wondered why STG sounds so posh you only need to look at his family tree. His family's wiki page includes the line "The heir presumptive's heir apparent is Harry's son Sam Michael David Fane (born 1989)", which probably makes him the most privileged youtuber on the planet, in the traditional sense.
Sam did talk about this within the last few months, some of his ancestors gambled and squandered the family money, his dad also helped him with advice, to save up a years worth of money, be debt free and give the channel a full go, he was going to give up after a short while but his dad told him to stick at it for longer, his said his dad isn't into cars and doesn't get this whole car scene, this is similar to what Tim said his dad's views are.

I have no idea how much Sam's family is worth, I doubt that they are poor but also not loaded, and they have not given Sam money for cars or the channel, he's said this! and Sam clearly doesn't have money to throw about.

Tim's dad was and still could be an accountant, Tim has always been into numbers and spreadsheets since he was young, and had a ebay in his early teens iirc and sold friends items and took a cut from the sales, also imported mobile phones from the suppliers and sold them in the UK.

They all know Tim and it's been said by a few that Tim will go out of his way to help other Youtubers.

Paul / SOL was one of the first with Tim but idk he squandered his subs and seemed to take it all for granted, the others and new people have come along and flew past him.

You wouldn't hear of Shmee letting marriage or a global pandemic get in the way of feeding the YouTube algorithm.

Paul Wallace did it from nothing without the help of a trust fund but he never managed to find that next gear that all the other channels did.
Do you need a hug? Do these feelings go back to when Shmee stole your lunch money at school?
lol Tim didn't have a trust fund, he got a bit of money from his grandad when he died, iirc he put it towards a car, it was not enough to buy a car though so idk less than £100k.

Tim is basically married because when Tim is not filming his girlfriend is, most of not all of the Gumball was her filming, they appear to spend a huge amount of time together.

Too many people watch one video, hate the person and then vent about them forever, maybe if a number of videos were watched people might learn a little of how these people work.

His dad is Harry Fane, a very well respected and successful Cartier watch dealer...they have a fair bit of coin hah

I must admit I don’t pay much attention to the YouTubers these days. Has SOL’s channel died a death or is he still going? Don’t think I ever watched an entire video of his, but certainly aware of him.

I think there's a search function on YouTube where you can enter a channels name, you select it and when you go there you can see how many subscribers they have and also, with their videos, how many views. Check it out, it's a pretty good function.

Guess I deserved that sarcastic response. Probably the sort of thing my friends would expect from me in real life.

Much easier to watch than some offerings out there (like a lot who will stop mid-video to shill CarVertical or a watch or nutritional drink with discount codes)... some do compensate for this, Mat Armstrong managed to get the dash out of the Aston to then get the airbags replaced and for it to be re trimmed (though he might stick a near identical DBS dash off ebay in its place rolleyes )
I did watch it last night, cannot see that car ever being right with the bodges so far rolleyes
He will run it well enough to get by like the E46 M3, with errors lurking beneath the surface rolleyes He cannot afford to get the passenger airbag stitching wrong if he tries to get it re stitched (though it looks like a DBS part off ebay may deputise) because it may not deploy properly in the event of another crash. The prices of the repair are approaching £15k... though it will be interesting to see what happens in the end.

Talking of doomed projects, Late Brake Show's V6 Allegro project seems to dragging its feet over which engine will go in the car, though I will be curious to see what comes of that, along with a Jag-engined Austin Princess at the same garage working on the Allegro...

Meanwhile it seems Archie Hamilton is not keeping the Audi RSQ8 for long (after inadvertently leaking STG's new F Type, though not sure if bought or another press car with new GT3 on the way) as he pulls the trigger on another Range Rover Sport V8 (on a long waiting list for months apparently) cue complaints about how thirsty the car is, £20 top ups at the forecourt, wrap, carbon, sell on...

I fully respect your his no1 fan but you seem to be forgetting that something went on and they split up, even if they are back together she has never been seen on the channel since so it is all a bit strange to say the least.

Thats something I've seen before with other youtubers and tbh I don't blame them.

add girlfriend to Chanel, make videos with GF, break up, comments end up full of questions about where X has gone, is X coming back etc, almost as if the viewers feel they have been dumped(look how upset some of the posters on this thread got). quite understandably after that sort of public breakup a lot of them decide not to mention their personal life/ partners online again.

A two second google shows her instagram has pictures of her with Tims Mustang on the Gumball, oh and also her with that Zenos at Goodwood, So I am guessing that they are still together.. not that it is any of my business.

Revisited the STG Mille Miglia video. Glad I did, I enjoyed it after the initial screaming and shouting. His excitement to go from 90-odd to 50-odd in the rankings was brilliant.

That’s more like it. My favourite YouTuber by far! His newest video was a cracking race, looking forward to his upcoming uploads, especially the enduro KA race

Now that Roadkill is behind a paywall Danny, Driftworks and Ste Bozzo are the only car channels I watch.
