Heard Vader's breathing, instant smile.

Hoping it's Rouge One Vader that turns up and not some namby pamby version.
Played by Hayden Christensen, maybe he's learnt to act since the prequels.

Can you watch these with little Star Wars knowledge? The franchise has intrigued me for many years but some of the films have been awful...
In my experience, yes. I've not watched the most recent film, or any of the animated series, not read any of the books and not watched the originals for ages. I really enjoyed The Mandalorian, I like the SW 'world' in terms of all the different species/creatures/aliens/races, and some of the music is awesome. I don't watch many sci-fi/fantasy series' so it was a nice change and a bit of fun escapism.

ETA and correct some poor typos and grammar, as you can read below!

Mandalorian is pretty standalone. Mostly all new characters in the lead roles, some characters from earlier films/series but you don't really need to know anything about them beforehand. As long as you know what a Jedi/the force is and that the Empire have been defeated by this point in history then you are good.

Kenobi, by it's nature is a follow on from the original trilogy. Kenobi, Darth Vader, Luke etc. so prior knowledge is going to be helpful.

Episode 3 and 4 is probably all you really have needed to have seen to follow the story and maybe the animated stuff but even without that it they will probably fill you in on anyone outside of the film's.

Prequel to the original trilogy. Set about ten years prior.

But I agree, you really need to have seen the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy for it to make sense as to why characters are in the places they are, and their motivations. The series is basically just going to fill in a little bit of the existing story.

Part 1 and II started streaming today.

The first four minutes are a recap of The prequel trilogy.
Yay, lots of it NOT set on Tatooine as initially feared.
Feels like a bit of a re-tread of The Mandalorian in these first two episodes. (quest to find child etc).

What's the matter, Kenobi..... Chicken??!?!

I don’t hold any hopes. The original Vader was voiced by James Earl Jones and was brought to life by the fantastic movement of Dave Prowse. A complete aura of menace, danger.

It is certainly a vast improvement on Boba Fett which was a miserable waste of time, but this is proper story so it HAS to be good, Ewan still tried to sound a bit too Guinness which he has to do now, would have preferred it if he was just being himself, but not his idea.

enjoyed the little girl playing that role she is great, but Flea, lol WTF!

I was so excited for this but didn't think it was good at all.

Story was poor and you can probably guess where it's headed in the end with the main inquisitor.

Acting and effects weren't great and Leia was so annoying.

The score was even less memorable.

I was expecting Disney to put full effort behind this since it's one of the main characters but it's like they've made him similar to new trilogy Luke.

The Mandoverse is miles better in every way, they should have given this to Favreau and Filoni to do it justice.

There's only 4 episodes to go so hope it improves.

5/10

Enjoyed the first two but wasn't blown away..

Ewan was okay as Obi-Wan, playing a sort of solemn regretful type so hasn't really been able to shine yet.

The Inquisitors I found a bit cliche..

Some of the action was bit janky, Leia being able to briefly outrun 3 bounty hunters in a lightly wooded area and later Obi-Wan in a crowd of half a dozen people laugh

Speaking of Leia though, probably the highlight so far - I've a much lower tolerance for bad child actors but she seems really good for her age.

We'll see how it goes in the nest episodes I guess.

Loved it, inquisitors were excellent if a little less driven. Remember vader cuts off bits of them if they fail him.

Young Leia made me laugh running from the kidnappers, I have a 7 year old and she can't run 20 feet up the garden without me getting her.

When he found anakin survived, oh god!

tbf Mandolorian was slow for much of first series, there was much whinge in this forum about how slow it was.

don't expect fireworks from the get-go with Obi Wan, its not how Disney do TV shows.

I thought the fx were a bit wobbly in places. The black lady Inquisitor was not very convincing, the others seemed to nail it.

Leia seemed a bit young for 10 (I just checked she's 9 now, probably 8 when filming).
Temuera playing the Clone was nice.
The 12yo said if he didn't want to be discovered not dressing as a Jedi would have been a good start.

Not sure where it's all going, redemption arc for the Inquisitor possibly but a bit obvious.
Enjoyed it overall.
