Obi Wan Kenobi Disney+
Discussion
Do you mean Anakin? no Anakin was the chosen one he had a midichlorian count of over 30k perhaps to 40k, obi wan had a count of 13k. He was insanely powerful but after his fight with Obi Wan he had his arms and legs cut off therefore diminishing his potential. In fact in the comics Palpatine was disgusted with him. He thought he was going to rule the SIth bt after he's been mutilated by obi wan he'd lost most of his ability and was less power than palpatine.
He was reduced to being palatines bh rather than the sith master, his story really is quite sad,

Caught up with this over the weekend, which tells you a lot, after watching it on release day for Ep1 we got further and further behind.
I think most of it has been covered, the DV/OWK fight was good but with obviously no peril.
We have established a Lightsabre to the gut is not fatal.
I have no idea what the whole Reva/Luke bit was about. Made no sense.
And a shout out to the least convincing space flight FX since the original Flash Gordon series.
Who's hopeful for Andor?

The grand inquisitor is a Pau'an, he has two stomachs, it's likely her stabbing him wasn't a major event.
Ok. But she was still trying to kill him. Surely she would know what he was and that he had 2 stomachs. And how is being run through by a super hot lightsaber so you can see right through someone, not a major event?!Edited by Flip Martian on Tuesday 5th July 10:34

This may answer some of the questions about plot holes

The great irony is that someone earlier in the thread was complaining about people trashing Star Wars and Disney just because they're Star Wars and Disney, when this kind of utter crap shows the truth - people will defend this utter dumpster-fire of a program just BECAUSE it is Star Wars.https://youtu.be/UDS1QelBiLM
That video is absolutely laughable. Really cringeworthy.

That’s sort of my point, if you don’t like Star Wars or even some of the films or tv series why waste time moaning about it?That video is absolutely laughable. Really cringeworthy.

It's not about "not liking Star Wars". It's about not liking poor script writing. None of the comments as far as I can remember are "haha SW is crap". It's "dear God the writing on Kenobi is so bad". Mostly from people who enjoyed some of the other SW series already done.Enjoyed it but completely agree it was really shoddily written in parts. The ‘second available ship magically appearing’ was a particular low, but even the badly choreographed chase of Leia in the first episode grated a fair bit. Same with the stormtroopers all missing from point blank range which was just silly.
One thing though - the ‘reva killing Luke’ was about revenge surely? She learns (through 3 broken words on a smashed recorder - some skills there) that Vader has a son (and where he is and who to ask for. Amazing!) and decides ‘he killed all my kid friends so I’m going to kill his’ i think. Then realises she can’t, she isn’t really like him etc and as pointed out gets let off for all the other stuff we DID see her do.
Also Ewan’s sword fighting choreography is just godawful from the standpoint of a lifetime sword fighter - personally I don’t think ridiculous sword twirling is where it’s at. The reason it was so good in the original trilogy is that it was choreographed by a fencing master who fully considered the concept of a blade made of light. The new fighting utterly ignores that. I’d have killed them both within about 3 seconds!
Still was good fun and very Star Warsy

I remember reading a book about how they made the first Star Wars film, where they said the main issue was that the prop lightsaber was incredibly fragile so they had to be very careful how they handled them or they'd break. Hence the staid but realistic fighting style. I think the fight choreographer was the man in the Vader suit for the duel with Kenobi, and also the fights in the subsequent two films.I think the issue with swordfighting in films is that the expectations of it are inherently unrealistic, with fights expected to go on for ages, e.g. the ones in 1930s films like Robin Hood. The problem with actual combat is that it is a bit dull to watch so you have to make it look a bit sexier especially for the modern audience.

Yeah very fair point - but people loved the not flashy Star Wars fights and if you want to make it look amazing just go the route of the princess bride. Proper sword work with lots of physical shenanigans to make it fun. But the actual fighting is spot on.I think the issue with swordfighting in films is that the expectations of it are inherently unrealistic, with fights expected to go on for ages, e.g. the ones in 1930s films like Robin Hood. it was Bob Anderson as you say and he was def in the suit for the main fight at least - He was my fencing coach about 30 years ago! Hadn’t realised it was because the props were fragile though…v interesting thanks
Good news!

Kathleen Kennedy truly does believe this however....
"That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job."
