Obi Wan Kenobi Disney+

We’re finding it pretty disappointing. It’s formulaic and written by committee. The bat-woman character is pure pantomime.
Leia is good though. A rare female part that’s allowed to remain so. It does not make a woman a strong character simply by giving them masculine characteristics. An all too familiar mistake these days unfortunately.

Watched the first two today.
Thought it was OK.
There's something not quite clicking for me though, on this, the Mandalorian and Boba Fett.
I think it's the sets. There's no real sense of scale that I felt the movies had. They mostly look a bit low budget/low rent.
The build up of the Leia and Luke characters could be interesting (but he girl doesn't look 10...she does, however, have the irritating traits of young Anakin).

I’ll watch all Star Wars content but I really struggle with prequels for anything. They’re completely pointless as you know that no matter what happens on screen everyone in the future films will survive.
Oh Princess Leia has been kidnapped. Who cares! Uncle Ben is being threatened…well we know he’ll be fine too.
Might just be me though.

yes , one of the major issues of prequels is we all know who'll survive....
i think thats where the Mandalorian, is quite good, it can be its own thing while dipping into nostalgia when needed -
its a shame that Disney has not taken the risk of something totally new and separate from current "skywalker" line, but i think its disaster of the sequels i think they are pretty shakey on wanting to do that...........

Although this is true, I think if they give it to the right people then they can still make great shows/films.i think thats where the Mandalorian, is quite good, it can be its own thing while dipping into nostalgia when needed -

I'm sure noone cared who those guys were that stole the death Star plans after the original, however R1 was probably one of the best films in the series and we all knew they weren't going to survive.
Kenobi should be a AAA spinoff since he's such a huge character but so far the series feels like an afterthought.
Mandalorian just feels like a step up in terms of story/production/quality.
Yeah whilst i'll keep watching in the hope it improves i've been pretty disappointed with this so far. I was really looking forward to it as I think McGregor is great in the role and unlike many I enjoyed the prequel films.
I just expected something much grander in scale, with far higher production values and well I guess I just expected everything about it to be bigger and better. This is one of the franchises' most iconic characters, they should have smashed it out of the park surely? These days TV has no excuse to not match cinema in scale and scope, there have been so many incredible shows in the last decade, so far this is not one of them.
As has been mentioned several times already, the main inquisitor's performance so far has been really poor, i've seen better acting in Hollyoaks. I do like Leia though, I can appreciate why she might annoy some but for me she's doing a really good job of portraying what i'd imagine a young princess Leia would have been like.

We're enjoying it, and agree with many points raised.
I think they did well to hide the main story pf the show, nothing in the trailer indicated it had anything to do with Leia which was great.
The little girl playing her, although doing a great job, she doesn't look at all like she's 10, more like 7 to be honest, which is jarring.
The inquisitor, yep agreed, pretty crap actor by all accounts and you can see the prejudice redemption coming a mile off.
I did love the way Kenobi reacted when he'd learned that Anakin is still alive.
I'm just happy we're getting more Star Wars content.

One of the other issues I have with it is why has Kenobi let himself get so rusty, his job is to protect Luke while he grows up, hard to train someone if you have forgotten most of your own skills. Surely you would keep yourself in tip top shape in the eventuality that st was going to go down at some point and you'd have to fight again.
Also didn't he know Ani was still alive already he didn't kill him and Padme said there's still good in him, along with his force powers he should still already know/feel he's alive?

Thought Boba Fett was ok. Loved The Mandalorian. This though...
Only watched ep 1. Hoping it improves really. According to the Jawa in the nice opening scenes, Kenobi stinks. But doesn't look filthy and clearly spends much time brushing his hair...
Leia is shown as a precocious brat. Which may well be accurate but makes for irritating viewing. And the child actor is too young looking. The "running away from her captors through the forest" was awfully bad. We wondered how Kenobi managed to pinpoint where his lightsabre was buried but maybe that's "jedi powers".
But going past the spaceport attendant while brushijng back his coat at the end to show his lightsabre...I expected her to turn around and say "ooh are you a jedi then?" after he just made it stupidly obvious.
Wifey got so hacked off with watching part 1 (she loved the other 2 spin offs and was looking forward to this) that we put part 2 off for another day...
Full of lots of reverential stuff and SW nerds will no doubt love it (I know several who do) but I hope its not Leia focused for all 6.
