An enjoyable hour or so but a tad formulaic in parts.

Buy three French cars and do virtually nothing with them (except the ‘bomb’ bit which was just silly). It started well with the Berlingo et al but ended up as contrived nonsense with destroyed cars at the end. An opportunity missed there in highlighting why the French view their cars as they do but instead went down the slapstick route.

Rally cross bit was fine but again needlessly long with interruptions that were meant to be funny but just got tedious. I guess the script writer should have spent less time driving one of the cars and more time on the script.

SM bit was glorious and shows just how good they can be.

An opportunity missed but quite enjoyable all the same but not their best. (I found the last Yank tank one better).

6/10.

I think a few have summed it up when they said it was like an episode of the old CHM Top Gear.

It is natural to want something more as this is all we are getting for months at a time, but as an individual episode it was basically fine. In the old top gear days it would likely have been trimmed down a bit more, but other than that some good bits, some silly bits and a few bad bits.

Was it a one off or new series?

Season 4 is essentially a collection of one offs, and this is the fourth episode.

Bit disappointing for me. It was watchable, but just seemed like they picked up an episode of TG from back in the day and added in French cars.

Some of the gags where funny, and I liked the SM piece but everything else was a copy and paste.

For the money they earn from Amazon it seemed like a wasted opportunity and feels more like they had to create something but had no real ideas.
Agreeing with this. It was a good episode, but back in the day it would have been part of a standard episode of Top Gear. There wasn’t anything “spectacular”. Still it did have some laugh out loud moments.
Got to remember that this episode (and the last one, Loch Down) were both written and filmed during lockdown, so will have been limited to what they could do or where they could go. They've already done the NC500 in Series 3 so would have been very repetitive if they did that again as a Series 4 Special.

Clarkson jumping out of the Citroen while it was still moving made me lol. And I'm impressed at the cars making it through that woods.

One thing though. Was the Citroen actually driving on cobbles during the bomb scene? I know the suspension is good but is it that good?

Possibly, if you saw the exterior view of it driving over the cobbles you can see the car's body is pretty still.

Bomb scene? Didn't they blow up a BMW or was I just bored by that point?

I wasn't aware they had driven a Citroen in that sketch at all.

Some bks about diffusing a bomb, and then a BMW exploded.

Ahahahahahahahahaha

I nearly shat.

Started watching Carnage at lunchtime. Predictable content, so far, but it's entertaining nonetheless.

Seemed like a series of 6/7 sketches all stiched together than any kind of storyline.

Bit of a duffer really, but good 1 hr brain out TV I suppose.
