Seen enough clips on youtube to know I won't be watching same tired old men doing same tired old totally scripted garbage and being paid a fortune to do so (even after the inevitable books, tv shows etc etc ) in the knowledge that people are home and will watch it anyway just to escape for an hour.
Vast majority of GT has been woeful, just an extension of the last few years of TG which was dreary and dull, can't blame the three, or the cretin Inman whatever his name is, they are on their pension pot.
But stop watching it please, then they might do something new.
Both of the last two specials were good.Vast majority of GT has been woeful, just an extension of the last few years of TG which was dreary and dull, can't blame the three, or the cretin Inman whatever his name is, they are on their pension pot.

Scripted? Sure. But the friendship chemistry between the three, or even any two just flows.

Seamen has been by far the most enjoyable watch of the post studio specials from a banter perspective, and the special episodes from seasons 1, 2 and 3 were all better than the last 3 efforts IMHO.
Clarkson's Farm and James in Japan are some of the most enjoyable TV from the past 10 years and looking forward to what they do next. Hammond's stuff is for more variable.

I watched the French special last night and lochdown when it came out. Both very much felt like episodes where they were fulfilling contractual obligations. I think they captured the right essence about the quirkiness of French cars, showing the bad and the (very) good but it was all a bit flat. I think it was about 30 mins too long.
I think the whole car comedy / challenge storyline is starting to burn out a bit now.

I thought they were both pretty crap, with the latest just being a rehash of the same tired jokes they've been doing for years...
I had them on in the background whilst cooking. You don't take it all seriously do you? That water bridge was good fun, the catapult was good fun. It's just harmless fun.
I was pleasantly surprised. The first 3 episodes of S4 were embarrassingly bad, unfunny, and well below their standard. It was like they had mailed them all in and had surrendered to someone else's idea of what made them entertaining. In none of those 3 episodes did I even laugh once. This one had me laughing almost from the start and kept it up throughout. A welcome return to form.

They really don't get along. A friend of ours is on the crew, Of the three May appears to be the more reasonable. Hammond, from what I have heard is an absolute nightmare to work with.

If he hated Hammond or may, he could just start a new motoring show and Amazon would sign him up, as would anyone else.

As seen with Clarksons Farm, he can identify and make people stars.

I'm just pointing out the 'chemistry' you are reading into things is engineered, not real. If he hated Hammond or may, he could just start a new motoring show and Amazon would sign him up, as would anyone else.

Shame ol' Rory wasn't retained on TG in place of one of the northerners. Watching Harris being endlessly bullied is rather tiresome.
