Gave up on it a few series ago.
Too contrived, you're being followed by a film crew you're not exactly invisible are you? And you're telling me that a TV show has access to council CCTV footage?
Even better this week, apparently they had access to a private airfield CCTV with the camera looking conveniently straight at the plane and "fugitive".Too contrived, you're being followed by a film crew you're not exactly invisible are you? Yeah of course you have.
I used to watch this in the early days, until I read the caveat in the opening credits, 'Some powers of the state eg CCTV, ANPR have been replicated'... and the penny dropped; it meant to me that the accompanying cameraman could 'ping in' whenever he saw a motorway gantry or cctv camera (official, business, or private) as that camera could have seen the fugitive... preposterous, as if all cameras are always being monitored...
I made the mistake of revisiting it recently and I see that it's got even more ridiculous, as the example of that cctv camera at the airfield proved. And the unneccessary insults and coarse language in the 'control room' confirmed that it's sunk to a whole new level; I won't be watching it again.

I keep telling myself I'm not going to watch it anymore because it's completely ridiculous, yet I find myself watching it and winding myself up pointing out all the inaccuracies!
There was one a few series back where they knew one of the fugitives was heading down the M6, but didn't know when or what vehicle she was in. Then the Hunters (who were parked up in a sliproad or bridge) just happened to spot her in a white van.
It's nothing more than a scripted faux reality show.

I remember watching an episode a while ago, the fugitive was assumed to be on the run "somewhere in Devon" because Hunter HQ found one of his Facebook friends (1 of 100s) happened to live there. That was funny in itself, however a few minutes later "fugitive has been spotted by a hunter team on a beach in Devon"

They must have 100s of hunter teams. Every time someone is spotted there's always a team within 15 minutes drive.Total joke show, but somehow I'm compelled to watch. If the hunted didn't have a hulking cameraman following them and causing curiosity value, it'd be simple to evade capture. Camp for a few weeks in a forest. End of.

You're right. Fugitive is believed to be just outside Inverness in the highlands. Hunter team is 10 miles away Total joke show, but somehow I'm compelled to watch. The premise of the show is mildly interesting, but the way it's "arranged" is farcical.

I struggle to watch it - but the wife loves it so we have to.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the were told who they could hitch lifts from too. Noticed in a recent series every car they just happened to get a lift in had a plastic covid screen in it. I highly doubt the contestants or camera operator following them around had one packed on the off chance they might get a lift from a stranger.
The whole thing is basically bullst now. They seemingly have realtime access to any CCTV in the country, including private ones, and enough people or software monitoring all of those millions of cameras to pick up the fugitives' every move.
Then there're situations like they had just now with the pair on the train being watched by an undercover hunter. Why didn't she just apprehend them both on the train instead of just watching and trying to follow them when they got off? It's not like they could have gone anywhere from their train seats when the train was moving. Surely an easy capture.

It really is hard to watch now and although in principle it should make for a great program, there's just so much that really does not add up and the false jeopardy around every corner has got really tiresome.
I only started watching from series 3 or 4 and made it through 2 series before deciding I couldn't watch any more ste. The first series we watched, there was an ex marine who decided he would go to Snowdonia. Great plan I thought, loads of hiding places, wait it out there and it's in the bag.
Little did I know it was all scripted penguin piss.
