Thought it was all a bit meh. Maybe if I hadn't played the games it would be different. The entire season seemed rushed. From being kidnapped to free is one episode etc. Hope they do better next season
I felt some parts were rushed as well, but I put that down to me taking hours and hours to complete the same bit in the game. ben5575 said:
I'm finding the comments on here really interesting. It's like everybody else watched a completely different TV show to the one I watched.
It was poorly written, rushed, acting was average at best, unoriginal, didn't actually make much sense, there was no sense of jeopardy and it was very disjointed.
The notable exception was Ep3 which was a standalone brilliant piece of television (yet appeared to have nothing to do with the series).
Not being negative on anyone here at all, clearly it's been very well received and loved, but this one is going in the instantly forgettable bin for me.
I enjoyed it but agree, it was very disjointed. Character development bouncing around all over the place. It was poorly written, rushed, acting was average at best, unoriginal, didn't actually make much sense, there was no sense of jeopardy and it was very disjointed.

Looking forward to season 2

I liked the series, watchable but not groundbreaking at all. I thought the Bill episode was probably the best as it was a great story. Having never played the games I found most episodes lacking.
Similar thoughts here. A bit disappointed if I'm honest and I was really looking forward to it Gadgetmac said:
I agree with this. Watchable but not noteworthy. Kinda 'if there's nothing else on' programming.
It's more for (aimed at) the fan boys than the general population who it's clearly going down well with.
It's viewership has grown over the season so not sure it's fair to say it's aimed just at fan boys. It seems to have been generally successful. It's more for (aimed at) the fan boys than the general population who it's clearly going down well with.
I just watched the last episode and do think it feels disjointed, but there is enough going on to keep me interested. The interesting thing is they developed a lot of ideas to make the game which never actually got into the game, but not many of these have been explored in the TV show. Maybe.
My friend urged me to watch this series. I gave up 1/2 way through episode 2 because I felt I'd seen it all before.
He kept on at me though, so as soon as the series ended, I decided to binge watch the rest and having finished it I stand by my original opinion - it's nothing new. There's nothing clever about the story - nothing that keeps me guessing.

Having not done the game (didn't even know it was a game) and watched the series, my conclusion is it was good. But just good, not amazing.
You could tell in that last episode it felt a bit like a game where he was shooting everyone in sight, around corners, picking up new guns, carrying out the girl etc without getting shot himself. Bizarre giraffe scene though, that wasn't necessary.
Definitely scope for another series and I'd watch it. But then previously I've watched 'The Strain' and thought it was good so I'm no benchmark for quality viewing.

Definitely worth listening to the podcasts after each episode as Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann go into details of the key scenes in each of the episodes.

We got a bit behind and have just watched ep 8 and 9 this evening.
I’ve enjoyed it overall but mainly for the truly incredible scenery and the standout ep 3.
I thought the giraffe was CGI too. What about baby Ellie, when she was on the dirty floor after just being born? Surely that was CGI?
