That's weird, I felt TV Joel was less of a hard man than the game.

In the game they went on a killing spree to get hold of Robert, and the guns he stole, but in the show it was sleeping pills and a car battery so he could go and find Tommy, which didn't enter into it in the game at that point.

Game Joel is much more stoic, hard man, and dominating than show Joel.

Funny how people see different things.

The way I remembered it was that game Joel was pretty reluctant to get involved in physical conflict but TV show Joel seemed to be spoiling for it, and other people were clearly afraid of his reputation for violent retribution. Though the show went into loads more background detail than the game did at the start .. which for once, was a good thing. Definitely building up Joel's daughter's character was a good move towards making what happened almost in the first few minutes of the game, more impactful.

I have the PS4 remaster of the game which I've never tried (played the original on PS3) so this might be a good excuse to give it another playthrough.

Yeah, go for it.

I keep thinking I'll do the same then I remember that I basically had to delete everything on my PS4 just to fit COD on there (which I haven't even played for months) and the idea of downloading/updating etc just puts me off.

I have a PS5 - luckily I also have 260mbs internet so it's actually quicker to download than to store games on an external drive and transfer them back across!

If you have slower internet though, the external HDD is a godsend - for about £60 you can triple your storage. PS4 games play directly off it, Ps5 have to run off the main HDD. You can store the PS5 games on there until you're ready to play them though.

I will play through the remastered version for sure, once the series has ended though.

Ahhh I have wondered that? So I can store something like all my COD stuff on an external drive, plug in and play straight away? That keeps the PS4 clear for other games?

Start of episode 2 ~ Didn't need this. It is entirely unnecessary stuff. All we needed to know was in the opening few minutes of ep 1.

I'm not 100% sure for PS4 as I have never had one, but my PS5 can play PS4 games directly off an external HDD which I leave plugged in at the back out of the way. PS5 has an easy interface to move stuff between drives, typically, whatever I'm playing consistently stays on the main HDD even if it's PS4, as it is faster. Occasional games stay on the external.

Playing PS5 games requires a faster data speed so they have to be on the primary HDD.

The drive has to be formatted for use on the console so you won't be able to use it for anything else at the same time.

I enjoyed it, was just waiting for the doctor to get her fingers bitten off when she was poking around that body laugh the show runners knew what they were doing there.

Also I assume the start was to explain that governments attempted to bomb major cities which you later see the result of.

In terms of the rest, the world looks amazing just like the game. That snog at the end though…

They got the world down to a tee. The colours, vegetation, etc.

It's perfect.

Still very faithful to the game, IMHO.

Oh fk, the kiss... You were right.

Mind you, I was thinking "you don't need a flame, just sparks. Bend down, dummy!"

I think the game did capitol scene better with the soldiers from FEDRA, rather than the mushroom people.

The 'Inside the Episode' videos are interesting.
It explains why they changed from spores to the tendrils.

They are on the end of the episodes on HBO in the states.

Also on YouTube, which is good. Also a longer podcast with writers on the same YouTube channel. They talk about why they did things, add stuff, leave stuff out, etc.

^ Been there, done that hehe
Part 2 for PS4 is only £20 and running on the PS5, the graphics are not notably worse than PS5 version of Part 1.

Excellent games.

Yeah I’ve got part 1 and 2 for PS4. Played part one twice. Part two I didn’t even get around to finishing.

Doesn’t scream of the best idea to drop £500 on a ps5 really if we’re honest.
