The Apprentice 2023
Discussion
It is an absolute joke isn't it.
There must be better business ideas being spouted over a line of coke in pub toilets up and down the country every evening.
fking hair, sweets, hair a cafe that turns into a bar and then boxing.
Marnie will win as its the only one thats different from what we've had the last few years. But even then she's not trading anyway and how is it proposed this gym makes money anyway. Or at least makes money on a scale that might interest big Al.

Did they all write their business plans in that one day between the phone call and the interviews? That's including time spent googling for "what is a business plan".
I think Dani let the cat out of the bag a bit when she said she hadn’t added stick to her website because she didn’t think she would get that far in the show. The business was clearly just something she had to do to get on the show. Gary Woodland said:
It just feels nasty now to me. A load of geriatrics dunking on fairly thick people for an hour. Didn’t enjoy anything about it and felt like it didn’t really go much into the businesses but instead concentrated on tepid burns.
I am mega curious where the heck a kiosk costs 7.5k a week though?! Did I miss it?
E: 50k bbl whilst not trading seems baffling and even fraudulent too lol. And the free staff thing was obscene. What a disappointing person.
My gf and I said the same a few weeks ago. It feels like the producers have told the people they pitch to to be unnecessarily harsh and critical about aspects of their pitches. In the board room too. It's a classic British thing, just focus on the negative and put them down all the time. The show has become a pastiche of itself.I am mega curious where the heck a kiosk costs 7.5k a week though?! Ironically, it's time Alan got fired. Bring in someone new like Steven Bartlett, freshen up some of the tasks they do (every week they seem to just create a brand, and then pitch a new product or sell an experience), and try to focus as much on promoting the good that some of the candidates and teams do, as much as highlighting the mistakes.
This now resembles children TV. Have the program makes purposely sought out pathetic instant fame seeking candidates to appeal to a younger audience, or do serious business type people just not bother applying?
I realise that all TV is just acting, but at least with the earlier series it did feel genuine, even of it wasn't. But now it's clearly just pathetic TV for TV's sake. Yes I still watch, but with dwindling satisfaction each year.

I used to enjoy the task when they were rushing around the city trying to purchase items within budget. The American Apprentice series had the two teams competing to up-cycle from something low priced such as a pen etc, to see which team could end up with the highest value item. I even think one year they were given a live hen to up-cycleI liked the bit where Marnie got berated because she wanted to open a gym where there were 21 others in a mile radius. As if somehow 22 was too many but 21 could operate perfectly fine. Would the guy have said the same thing to the other 21 gyms? At what point are there too many? What's the cutoff?
I’m sure that with Lord Sugar’s investment, contacts & advice, Marnie will make a good go of the business.
It might be handy to keep Baroness Brady on board too.
Marnie might not be the best Apprentice ever, but fair play, She has done a lot of graft to get some grants & loans already.
NB: Agreed, all their ‘business plans’ were pie in the sky... but amazing how the interviewers gather so much information out of them in such a short space of time.

Or even the thought that opening a new hair salon every 6 months was a completely ridiculous concept and could never be done, even with unlimited funds. As if some businesses have never expanded with a new store or premises every few months!Gary Woodland said:

Glad someone else picked up on this and I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the interview. A business that isn't even operating has a BBL for the maximum of £50k which would have required a £200k p.a. turnover?Edited by Gary Woodland on Thursday 16th March 23:25
How's that being paid for?

The format is really tired now. The same tasks every year with little resemblance to real life.
The interviewing of the contestants last night was just bullying to humiliate them.
If this show was in any way close to real life, they would never have got beyond the apprentice sifting through the junk mail in the post room. If there's anything good to glean from this comedy show, it's that at some point in your life in order to be taken seriously you might encounter some criticism. You take that criticism on board and try harder next time. You don't turn on the water works and cry 'bully' like so many younger folk seem to do these days. Pathetic really. The interviewing of the contestants last night was just bullying to humiliate them.
