Just a note to add that you can watch the various catchup services, other than iPlayer, without a TV licence.
But strictly speaking not the live services on ITVX or All4 (or any other catchup services), because they are live.

Just thought I would add, that you can listen to any radio channel on your TV, which we do because of the sound system. So, if they got you in court, then you could tell them that you have a television and do use it regularly to watch DVD's, listen to the radio and link to Youtube via your PC/laptop.
The BBC really do not like people watching Youtube licence free. Fortunately there is nothing they can do about it.

I wonder if you could argue that iPlayer, itvX etc. are delayed (if only by a few seconds) and therefore are not live ?

And according to the TV licensing site, any live YouTube stream (which seems like madness).

No. Same for +1 channels.

Have a look at blackbeltbarrister and chillijoncarne on YouTube. They go into detail about what exactly the law says and how to handle TV Licensing.

Op - you're worrying about nothing. there are loads of scrotes out there who pretend they don't need a TV Licence. The chances of being caught are pretty small so just go ahead and cancel your DD.

If you really aren't going to be watching live TV you've got nothing to worry about. If you're only going to pretend you're not watching live TV then you've still not got a lot to worry about.

On the basis that the BBC do as they damn well please with little comeback, I reckon I can do the same.

No guilt at all in watching commercial channels as the adverts pay for them. Clarkson's article in the Times on the BBC makes for good reading and cast-iron evidence that the buggers should be defunded.

All digital TV is delayed anyway. I found that out back in the days on analogue TV when I had the same live football match on 2 different TVs, one analogue and one digital. I heard the goal in the kitchen before the penalty had been taken in the living room.
