Just discovered this. Two episodes in and absolutely loving it, the clobber, the music, the cars - 80stastic, and properly laugh out loud in places especially when the actors sing along to the background music. Brilliant.

Coming from Nick Love, who has such a great background in retro 80's stuff (The Business as a prime example) this was always going to be good and for me, it didn't disappoint.
Spotted Nick Love's name in the credits and it looks like he's dusted off the entire wardrobe from The Business, a film I watch on a regular basis, loving the music and the clothes, I might be digging out the Fila BJ from the back of the wardrobe. paperbag
I read somewhere that it's losely based on The Business, and there's certainly similarities. In fact some scenes and storylines are very close!

80's Casual Classics have a 'Town called Malice' sale on at the moment! https://www.80scasualclassics.co.uk/sale/a-town-ca...
...and just like the business its only watchable because its so unbearably bad...'The geezer was so hard even his nightmares were scared of him '....

Finished it last night. I know the reviews have been of the solid three star variety, but I thought it was brilliant, really enjoyed it.

I really hope it will be given a second season.

+1

We're really enjoying it. I think you have to be of a "certain age" to appreciate the music, the cars and the dress sense. Outside of that narrow band it must seem a bit odd.

Great stuff, but I’m still trying to work out how you can suffocate someone with a pillow when they have an oxygen tube up their nose?
Well you need to breathe out also 😂

After all the trailer hype …..my era….love of gangster films/series, I sat down to watch this in eager anticipation.
I got as far as 20 minutes into E2.
I found the weak acting and the formulaic story line just too much to hold my attention - i think I will go and watch reruns of Sopranos, Boardwalk, Ray Donovan, Billions and Deadwood instead.

Just started this and love it.

Just like The Business, some awful acting and at least, on this occasion, no Danny useless Dyer…..

Music is great. Checking cars while Mrs S is critiquing the clothes wink

Just finished it with the OH. Love the whole aesthetic and the music is spot on. Yeah, there were dodgy bits but it was really enjoyable.

I think uncle Tony was underused as I thought he was the best character.

Finished it during the week there. One of the later episodes (4 or 5?) was a bit week and almost put us off watching on but the season ended well. Looks well set up for another series.

I think not only is it set in the 80s but they're replicating that 80s acting style too. Really loved it. Something different.
