I’m the first to admit that I know nothing of MMA and all that, but I’m sure I read that he had actually participated in quite a few (reasonably high level?) events..
I do know Connor mcgregor is pretty well regarded in the sport and that he probably isn’t in the movie for the money, so if it’s good enough for him.
Connor McGregor strikes me as being the sort of person whose ego is bloated beyond belief and who'll do pretty much anything to see his name in lights (so to speak)
Yeah. Which is why I'm surprised to see he's playing a role in which (I imagine) he'll loose a fight to the main protagonist.

He'll have an epiphany during the course of the film and switch sides too da angles at the last....

I cant get on board with Jake G trying to be a hard man. Just doesn't work.
He was hard in a man when he starred in Brokeback Mountain.

Ooh, matron.

My take on that movie is if you watch it as a straight male you are actually gay.

No mention of the director vrs Netflix fight? The director is boycotting the premiere as he was told by netflix that it'd have a theatrical run but its gone straight to streaming so cutting him and the cast out of a lot of 'on the backend' cash.

The director is Doug Liman, the guy behind the first Bourne film. He's a really good director of action but does have a tendency to get into fights with studios.

It’s not on Netflix, it’s on Prime isn’t it?

Could be, my mistake. Either way, it's a spat

This version of Road House has Dalton but doesn't even realise it IS Road House!

(Also has Erin Grey in it)

Countless post-pub viewings, Kelly Lynch, Family Guy references - all of the above!

It could well be a decent film, but probably best not expect it to be a facsimile of the original; so much that worked in 1989, or with Swayze, wouldn't translate 35 years later, or to Gyllenhaal.

Ref 560SEC, I'm guessing that was intended to stamp that Swayze had money - but was more worldly, mature and switched-on than we might otherwise expect from his role. Not too sure what the more equivalent would be, everything that expensive today is several shades more glitzy....

Sure he did he took the job for $500/night. That's going to stack up, certainly to the level of a 560SEC.

The new roadhouse guy was clearly broke even though seems he was an MMA fighter.

My guess is this a vehicle for McGregor. There's going to be a final fight and McGregor will win.

Thing with the original is its st, but its solid gold st. I. Sure most of the actors knew it was a crock and just ham it up, Ben Gazzara especially.

It's an entertaining film but was never going to trouble anyone at awards time
Yep, Ben Gazzara was definitely overacting in the film but it made the character all the more despicable for it.

I just can't get even remotely excited about anything with JG in it, don't know why but he just leaves me feeling bored.
I'm sure he's a great person and a great actor but everything i've watched with him in it, his characters always leave me feeling meh.

I’m no script writer, but after he single-handedly despatched the generic biker gang (who in typical fashion took turns getting punched) he should have simply stated “Roadhouse” whilst looking directly at the camera.

That said I’m definitely watching it.

Just finished watching it. A reasonable way to pass a couple of hours and fair play to Jake for getting into absolutely ridiculous condition at 43. However, some of the CGI is abysmally bad, it wouldn’t look out of place in a 90s movie.

Must shamelessly admit that the beers are already chilling in the fridge to watch this one with. The original is such a guilty pleasure
