Good luck to him, but it's pretty obvious that Phil the Pie was destined to do very well because of his business plan, as any other multiple loser in the tasks would've been sacked ages ago. It's TV...

Just caught up on the last episode, so disappointed Tre and Flo rocked up with such poor ideas.

I agree that Phil is probably the one for the win as his idea is the only one that's got any legs but he's been useless in the show and his decisions in his own business seem to echo that. No vision, no ability to adapt or make informed decisions.

Tre was clearly a favourite on the show the outpouring from pretty much everyone about what a nice guy he was nice to see.
I don’t think Flo’s idea of a recruiting business is terrible in itself. But her idea of hiring a dozen or more people immediately, and using the whole £250k investment in three months to pay them was insane. I’ve (unfortunately) worked in a recruiting business, and most of the job of a recruiter is to take a brief from a client with a role to fill, and then cold-call their contacts list. Her lot would have no clients with roles to fill, no contacts list to call, and will be bust when the funding runs out. As a business proposal, that’s crackers.

Pieman is actually quite likeable. Compared to some of the other bullstters he's actually doing something & running a real business. When you looked at the others they were dreamers that were completely uninvestable. .In the earlier series where Sugar was looking for somebody to employ rather than invest in I think you would be looking at different finalists

It is worrying that Pieman hasn't seen his management account for 6 months or so though!
In terms of "likeability" I think a lot of that will be down to editing. It's now so ridiculously obvious that it's boring - if the production team want somebody to look bad then every time that person says something they cut away to dead silence, eye rolls, and looks of shock from the other candidates. IIRC that hardly if ever happened to Phil the Pieman. He seemed to be quite a nice candidate all the way through the series (as did Tre, Flo and the others).

In terms of success in tasks that's even more irrelevant in terms of the genuine business acumen/skills that a candidate might or might not have. The tasks aren't an accurate reflection of how good somebody is at business, the results are very binary (you're either AMAZING or UNBELIEVABLY STUPID even though the winning / losing margin might have been marginal). Also, given that some of the tasks have made-up results it's even more ridiculous.

Anyway rant over smile there are just to many gaping plotholes in the show - IMO they should just change it to a £250k prize for the person who wins the most tasks

I thought the interviews were tame compared with previous years.

But Tre, what makes him think that an idea = a business plan
Not just me then. The interviewers were massively toned down this year. Normally there are girls in tears because of hurty words. None of that. Very disappointing. I assume because the BBC don't want complaints that they're being vindictive or something.

It's a pale comparison of what it once was.

Agreed, interviews were pretty light on any sort of grilling. It's like the fact LS now says to EVERY contestant "It's with regret.........you're fired." No, it's not with regret, it's the whole point of the show. It used to be like a Hollywood handshake in that only the ones who he actually liked a bit got the "regret" but now he says it to every single one.

And if all the ones he said "keep in touch" to actually did, he'd be on his phone permanently!

(Although, it's probably an Amstrad, so quite likely not.)

Clearly L'ud Sugarness fires whoever he wants, but when you think about it....

The person who gets fired in the very first episode could actually have been the very best candidate of the lot, but they just happened to have been on the losing team, were unfortunate to have been chosen for the boardroom by the team leader who doesn't really know them yet, and were perhaps just the worst of those three at defending themselves on that particular day. The absolute worst candidates might have been on the winning team.

Is The Apprentice USA still on UK TV, and if so when etc? I used to like watching that when Trump did it.

not any more but I think you can find it on YT

US version is hilarious, has the feel more of Big Brother, and more squawking than the bird sanctuary at London Zoo

Trump himself was fired from the show in 2015. Arnie chaired one series after that, but nothing since.

There are some recent Aussie ones with Lord Shugs on iplayer.

The final is tonight!!

Will it be pies? (I think we all know it's odds on to be that) Or a fitness gym in a saturated market?

Are we one episode less than usual years due to the double firing last week?

Nope 12 episodes same as it has been for the last 5 series. It's all planned, tasks mean nothing so they can fire any number at any time to make the episodes add up to 12. It did use to be 14 episodes and one series was 16 (series 4) but that was back when he was looking for an apprentice to work for him and the tasks were probably more important, not a business partner with a plan.

According Wiki, no as since 2018 there have been 12 episodes per series. Prior to that there were 14 episodes apart from 2006, which also has 12 and 2008 which had 16.
