Damp squib indeed. The final has generated less than a page of comments, goes to show how exciting it was hehe

How much lol! They'd better be the worlds best pies at 6 quid for a tiddler :-)
Two family pies plus delivery is £34 quid, perhaps Sir Alan had a valid point, I can sit in our local and have beautiful home made pie chips n peas for two for the same cost !
Before tonight’s show they were £4.75 each. About the same as Pieminster. Looks like the price was hiked at the end of the show.

Do Phil's family not have something to say about him trying to give half their business away?

Is that from the pie shop in Loch inver? Anyone on pH in Scotland should know it.
Its the arse end of nowhere then travel 45 miles down a 1 way in out road. But by God the pies are amazing
No, luckily we have a local gastro type pub who source hand made pies from the local butcher's. Proper triple cooked chips and Hendersons relish with beef gravy. Literally 5 mins walk, thinking of moving in :-)

I got the impression Phil was edging his bets though when he was put on the spot about the online thing not working but pie shop expansion would. He appeared willing to consider options etc while not burning his bridges. No one would give up half an established family business.
Phil would probably get external backing now elsewhere I bet if he pitched exactly that to investors while the publicity is good.

What a load of rubbish.

I have enjoyed every series of the apprentice but even i have become seriously bored with the totally stupid tasks and even more stupid contestants.

Gave up on this series at about episode 3 or 4.

Amazes me these 2 got to the end. total rubbish.

I agree with every word, but let's be honest, it's a whole lot funnier than most comedies these days and I never miss a minute of it.

My take-away quote from this year: "Once you explain it, it's self-explanatory."

Almost on a par with "It's not rocket surgery" from a year or two back.

The winner admitted she's been a long term fan of the show and wanted to appear on it from a young age so fair playto start up a successful business and win it. Although it's not very adventurous and the market seems saturated she should do ok. I don't think we'll be seeing her on The Times Rich list from this venture alone however.
Once she has the cash, I wonder if Sir Alan actually has any further involvement personally in mentoring or direction, or if its a senior lackey he appoints. I can't see him doing anything more than appearing at the launch of the new venue tbh if that.

On the other hand, Phil must have set a new record in being the only candidate to lose every single task and the final?

He won one, the one where he was told to be team leader or he was gone...

It’s probably the BBC who pay them the £250k without His Sugarness having any involvement at all.

I went off the programme when the candidates stopped being business people and became social media instant celebrity wannabes. But now I see it for what it is, an absolute joke of a programme and so I’m back to liking it again.

You are probably right tbh. He probably gets paid more than that himself to appear now.

I doubt that. The money would have to come from his hand as he is becoming a 50% partner (again, greedy bd) and he does mention that he will mentor, if not actually get his hands dirty.

...but fully agree that the £250k would be incorporated within his deal from BBC.

He certainly couldn't be arsed to attend the Your Hired Show.......

The reality is that to Sugar and any medium size business £250k is next to nothing. I persuaded my CEO to give me £5.5m to start a new venture for the group, and another business I was involved in needed circa £6m per year for 5 years as the seed investment. £250k barely buys anything in the real world of business and growth.

The whole concept has become formulaic and stale - Perhaps they should have a challenge to define a fresh format and present it to the viewers.

I think the show has had it's day, nearly all the business plans submitted to the four "experts" are a total joke, some contestants don't know the difference between gross and net profit ffs!

Same with Dragon's Den.

I think that Sugar, Karen and Tim should each project manage a task against a contestant and if the contestant wins they get a free pass to the business plan stage.............

Obviously they will be so good that they will ace the task to previously unseen levels of success............

I quite like the idea of Sir Sugar running around trying to find an oyster and Her Baroness trying to find a dobiddle pot that was once used in haymaking 300 years ago

It's entertainment but obviously not to be taken seriously. Somewhat bizarre that they have to create a business name, logo, brand, etc.........for companies that already exist! And those existing companies are the one's everything is based on - interview episode digging into accounts, etc.

It's a very tired format now (years ago actually) and I'm sure we all just tune in for the displays of weapons grade numptiness! I think those with existing businesses ought not be selected to be on the program and it should just be start ups.

I'm getting a bit tired of people complaining about The Apprentice, pointing out how unrealistic it is, how scripted it is, etc. We know this, it's entertainment and if you don't like it don't watch. I personally really enjoy it and don't take it too seriously. The editing also makes people look particularly stupid - but that's the same in most shows, otherwise most programs would be dull.

It annoyed me when Lord Sugar was saying "You've got to raise your prices" - particularly as I had two emails this week by utility company's who are raising my prices.
