old movies worth watching 60s/ 70s

Just outside the timespan (1980), 'The Gods must be crazy' is well worth seeing. A comedy set in Africa, it contrasts the lives of bushmen with lazy townsfolk who will jump in the car rather than walk 100 yards to a shop. The bushmen have a peaceful existence until a modern day item lands amongst them and becomes a catalyst for trouble.

O Lucky Man, the second part of the Nick Travis trilogy and my favourite.
From IMDB:
An ambitious coffee salesman has a series of improbable and ironic adventures that seem designed to challenge his naive idealism.l
Which is all you need to know really, the rest of it is just a total trip.
Excellent choice, but in my opinion worth starting with If... (1968) and then following up with Brittania Hospital if the first 2 were enjoyed. From IMDB:

Just outside your window but 3 films around that period I only saw much later in life (as in the last 10 years or so!) that felt just as modern as anything made today and still brilliant:
12 Angry Men - Saw this mentioned earlier in the thread, simple premise but I was surprised how modern the dynamic of the film was. Well worth a go.
Rear Window - Again like the above it's a little earlier in time but once more feels very modern and its influence on many films that have come after it (outside the "remake" Disturbia which was actually pretty good) can really be felt.
Psycho - The only film that creeps in to your bracket and I'm surprised it's not come up (might have missed it). Even if you already know the plot (most will) it's still genuinely creepy with some brilliant scares. Like many Hitchcock films it's the blueprint of so much that came after it, not just in terms of storytelling but the actual mechanics of filmmaking.
The Birds - (can you see a theme here ) This one is well inside the '60s, like Psycho it's so much more than it's initial premise. Still great today.
