Probably not a great film, but I have fond memory of "Water".
Michael Caine as lazy governor of some out of the way island, Billy Connoly as the local revolutionary.
yes I actually worked on that Rig back in 1989 , was owned by (BDF British Drilling and freezing based in Nottingham , the drilling sequence was filmed in Devon , hence the fake palm trees Michael Caine as lazy governor of some out of the way island, Billy Connoly as the local revolutionary.
The rig Containers should have been " Boldon Green " but were painted red for the movie , Billy Connoly got on very well with the rig crew

Keeping with the Michael Caine theme.
The Black Windmill.
Excellent film from this era.
Great Roy Budd soundtrack to The Black Windmill.
Excellent film from this era.
I'll add a couple more :
Robbery, 1967 with Stanley Baker, based loosely on the great train robbery of 1963 and directed by Peter Yates whose next film was Bullitt with Steve McQueen.
Villain, 1970 with Richard Burton as a Ronnie Kray style gang leader, stellar supporting cast too, made at the same time as Get Carter but overlooked for many years.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, somting blue!

Having grown up in the sixties./ early seventies I am reminded just how many great movies there were then. Or rather 'films' as only very annoying people and Americans called them movies. No CGI, TV not good enough to rival cinema and of course no streaming .
Favourites included A Touch of Class. Easy Rider , Dirty Harry. Last Picture Show , Walkabout , Butch Cassidy , Duel , The Graduate , Bonnie and Clyde , Deliverance , Straw Dogs the utterly lovely Paper Moon and Don't Look Now . Th latter was the feature film in a double bill- the B movie Wicker Man. And despite its now cult reputation , it was as risibly awful then as it is now .
And Close Encounters remains my favourite Spielberg film . Unlike just about very other previous film about alien life, this one wasn't about death rays destroying the world but about an alien life much more advanced than our our own - and peaceful.
Some films from the era are lauded now but were only so- so in period . Bullitt is one , now that McQueen is Saint Steven of Gulf Oil and just like Le Mans the car stuff was great - but the acting wooden and the plot missing presumed dead .
Further back, it is worth watching Summer Holiday and then A Hard Days Night . Nothing could speak more eloquently about the seismic shift the Beatles ,made , transforming popular culture from gentle conformist pap to something which even my eleven year old self just knew was subversive and fun.- it was the future .

Anything with Ray Harryhausen stop motion animation... The Sinbad films, Jason and the Argonauts, The Valley of Gwangi, One Million Years BC...
Harryhausen got into animation after seeing the 1933 King Kong movie, and a lot of recent and modern day animators and filmmakers do what they do because of Harryhausen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Harryhausen
