Bought a new high power sound bar. 780watts with 9.1

Thought I’d use the first part of TG2 to test it out, the test flight scene. I have after all seen the film 4 times already.

Watched it all. Sound was superb.

When I first saw this film I didn’t think it would be a film I’d come back to over and over. I did enjoy it but didn’t find it that good.

But i actually really enjoyed it again.

But my ears are bleeding now. hehe

Definitely rewatchable.

Did you keep watching? I think the test flight but is the weakest part of the film.

That was so obvious, its like they took a page out of This Is Spinal Tap and the amplifier scene.

I know that scene very well because it has cult status, but I don't make any connection to the scene in Maverick.

he was only suppose to take it to 10 but tried to take it to 11, although he didn't get much above mach 10

He didn't try to take it to 11, he tried to take it just above 10.

As said above, so no connection to Spinal Tap.

11 is above 10. Over 10 is over 10, works for me sorry if you can't see it.

I don't see it either that's why I originally questioned your connection.
Come on man...the joke is specifically 11 because it is 1 more.
I love Spinal Tap but there really is no connection or similarity here.

In both situations they were trying to take it above 10. Whether that as 11 or 10.1 same difference they are both more than 10

It’s a nope from me too.

I did crank it to 58 on the new Soundbar. Out of 99. But I’ve never seen spinal tap. wink

Notice that the BBC iPlayer volume slider goes to 11 as well.

The question is though, would you have made any 'Spinal Tap' connection if it only went up to 10.4 the same as Maverick? biggrin

Tom must have read this thread and decided he's got to hit Mach 11 this time. Give the people what they want.

Saw that. I'm a little unsure. I loved Maverick and I think TC went out of his way to make sure it was good and gave the fans what they wanted.

This just smacks of a studio cashing in.

I mean don't get me wrong I'll be first in the queue when it's released and will no doubt watch it a dozen or so times at the cinema, but I just hope they don't rest on their laurels.

I think the majority of people were saying the same thing when Maverick was announced, however Cruise knocked it out of the park in my book so he's got enough leeway from me to wait until it gets done and I've seen it to say anything further on it.

Be difficult to pull it off as you can't lean on the nostalgia as much like they did with Maverick which, IMO, was one of the reasons it was so good.

Still, why not, go for it!
