They actually wanted to make a sequel right away after all the profits the original made, but as they were tight the producers asked what left over aerial footage they could use for the next film but every single bit of usable footage had been used in the first film.

Anyway everyone knows the real star of the first film was the Tomcat, so who will see something with a Super Hornet? It will turn out like Behind Enemy Lines, i.e. crappier than a sewerage processing facility.
