You realise that Sobel may have been a vindictive person, but without him, Easy wouldn't have been as effective a unit.
I think that's a pretty common view of things smile

He was also in an old Victorian program too, can't remember what it was called.
The Forsyte Saga. I also spotted him as a ginger streak of pish playing the villain in an old Touch of Frost.

He's brilliant in BOB, which is easily my fave drama series ever.

On a hijack, I've got the BoB boxset, and today in the paper there was an advert for the BluRay version in full 1080p.

Anybody got this yet? I know HiDef is good, but is it worth replacing my original BoB set with the HiDef version? I noticed there was some new extras included too.

the bly-ray tin is out today.
i have just watched the first 3 episodes. it is fantastic, it all looks so real.

i guess, in some small way, it shows you what it really might have been like to be there? Or as close as i ever want to get at least.

amazing what these guys did back then for us. should not be forggoton.

Probably the best US TV series ever.
yes

Saying that, there are not that many to choose from of much quality IMO.

How about The Sopranos; Six Feet Under; Mad Men; Nip Tuck; Breaking Bad; The Shield, Rome; Deadwood to name a few? You may not receive all of these.

Cant remember which film it was, maybe a Mel gibson one, but they came asking forces lads to be extras as they "looked the part" a while ago......couldn't get the time of though.
Was it "We Were Soldiers Once", or something Similar? Based upon the book, "We Were Soldiers Once, and Young".

I spoke at my maternal's grandmother's funeral (the last of my GPs). My opening words - "Today we see the passing of a generation that I have the upmost respect for, and one that we'll never see the likes of again."

I got the feeling that we are poorer for their passing - or perhaps, the lack of appreciation. Her husband was a Desert Rat, born in the slums of Victorian Whitechapel, joined up as a boy soldier and ended up a RSM in Borneo and Malaya. Also the kindest man, who doted on his children and would have been dipped in acid for the welfare of his grand children.

My respect is undying for him and my sole inspiration for the way I should conduct myself and my future life.

The irony is that he died 3 months before I got accepted into HM Forces.

st happens.
