There's a new Nationwide one where a young couple are in something like a video booth saying what they like about each other. Just as bad as the fking poetry ones.

Sunny ads but then they'll seem cool to their target audience but the bloke looks shady as hell to me.

Has anyone noticed that the Schweppes Tonic Water ad with the impossibly smug Frenchman telling us we are all "amateeeeuurs" seems to have abruptly vanished from our screens almost as soon as it appeared?

I wonder if they did some screen testing and found everyone else wanted to punch him as much as I did?
I mentioned that one recently. I was surprised that nobody else here had mentioned it until now.

I am genuinely baffled at how that advert got approved. It makes my skin crawl just thinking about it!!

I saw a longer version at the cinema this week and he'd been dubbed with an english accent. It's still a terrible ad though.

They just showed this advert at the cinema.

Same actor, but he's lost his French accent.

I'm going to nominate the Savill's estate agents "Love Story" ad that was on during Bake Off.

Couple falling in love with a house with sea views that's literally right on the beach and in the water. Not sure what the point is really, as if you're taking it literally that would be impossible as the house wouldn't exist there, and even if it did, no estate agent would be able or willing to market it or sell it (just like all those houses on crumbling coastal areas being reclaimed by the sea, etc)

The one with the guy reading Sat Nav instructions, that include directions along the lines of "turn right at the volcano" (or similar)?

Yeah, like any of those are ever going to get used offroad. Expect to see them loaded with kids on the school run just like all the other "off roaders".

That sort of thing grinds my gears. They don't just turn up with a clip board and big cheque ready to be your best friend and throw whatever it takes to get you back on your feet.

WTF are Nationwide on about? Surely the top brass watch TV & think 'who the fk are we contracting to do our advertising??? Fire them immediately!!!'
Seems most bank ads are ste though - I don't recall a single decent one in recent times. Which are worse: the TSB cartoon series with that bloody annoying Scottish woman's voice over & ste muzak, or the Nationwide 'poetry' crap??
