First was brilliant, but I wont accept them untill they use some decent soundtracks. the Linkin park one was ok, but compared to Stan Bush' originals, they just didnt compare, to "The Touch" or "Dare", without those two songs, Transformers The Movie wouldnt have been as epic as it was...Annoying thing is Stan Bushwrote a whole album for the last one,and it was brilliant even revamped "the touch".
They need Stan Bush
Remember that tune when the Deceptacons attacked the Autobots spaceships near the beginning of the original film? That was a tune biggrin

And the one when Hotrod was driving/swimming around destroying that octopus thingy before meeting the Sharktacons? Anothe great tune wink

In fact....that whole soundtrack was pure 80's rock biggrin Awesome wink

The latest film was good, but fight scenes weren't great tbh. To close up, could not really make out who was throwing punches etc. I hope this is improved upon in the follow-up.

And PLEASE........lets have some goddam DINOBOTS!!!! biggrin

The Movie, because it didn't have the transition or indeed enough of the awesome "transforming" sound effect wink

Edit: Wait. I've realised I'm probably confusing people who know about these things because I've never seen the original Transformers movie. I was referring to the recent Michael Bay effects fest being pap because of lack of original sound effects to remind me of my childhood smile

Transformers, Series 1 all the way upto Transformers The Movie, avoid the Rebirth, Headmasters, that was awfull.

There isnt anything dark about Transformers the original series???? Watched them as a kid, about that age, didnt do me any harm, how else is he going to learn the universal greeting? Bah Weep Graaagnah Wheep Ni Ni Bong, IIRC?

Start him on the proper series, the later ones I found to be really really st, rebirth/headmaster/dynowars/beastwars/cybertron or what ever they are called, new ones really suck donkey, Optimus Prime transforms into loads of things and isnt a proper truck anymore
Ah, the old 'bah weep granna wepp nini bonn', that brings back memories!

I love the original transformers and was a child when they were in their prime (no pun intended).

The original cartoon movie is ace! 'Where'd you learn to talk like that?' 'We talk TV!'. Great stuff!

'Why boy hurt my nose?'

You sir need a better home cinema system! (or turn it up!) I watched the first one on bluray on my new amp and had goosebumps for two whole hours! The transforming noise and the end battle, pure auditory bliss!

Yes you can get Transformers movie on boxset, and the first seasons, they are worth getting, for the dinobots entrance, well mainly just Grimlock
I seem to remember the song was in Boogie Nights too.

Personally though I think Michael Bay should be stopped, hes doing a back to the future remake!!!!!!!!

For clarification
Transformers - New one
Transformers The Movie - the original one

be nice to have the original, dunununununununununununn Nunununnununununununuunu Dunununununununununun nununuunun in the background, oooh and Teletran, even though Teletran didnt do much...

Least with the new ones, Starscream is still an irritating whiney that you want to punch, but needs moar Astrotrain, and to stop killing off Autobots!!! no Transformer ever died in the original series permanetly

Megatron Died! Galvatron rose, though, I guess that was the movie and not the series smile

The new one could definately do with a Soundwave too. Those little tape robots were soo kewl biggrin

Galvatron was still Megatron, Megatron didnt remain permanently dead, because Galvatron was Megatron, just drawn differently.
Optimus Prime died, but they realised how much people hated it, and brought him back(rebirth awfull dont go there)
I suppose unicron died, but wasnt a Transformer himself, and the ones who were jettisoned off into space, pick up with the story, that they are actually found in space, like Soundwave was found roaming space smile

If I got to play with Megan Fox for a couple of hours, her thumbs would be the last thing on my mind!

This could be so good!
I have Transformers on Blu-Ray now and it is just epic, one of those films thats just so good to watch, easy yet satisfying...

This second one HAS to be better, but i do agree about the soundtrack elements - Linkin Park was fine, (& also the radio scenes at the begining with bumblebee were very amusing) but bring back the classics!

Still, not going to stop me watching it - i've been waiting for the sequal!

Unlike Batman where replaced Katie Holmes with some decidedly less attractive bint, which in part spoiled the film for me!
Looking forward to Transformers 2 very much thumbup
She doubled her fee, they refused and found someone who look like she'd melted but had at least been to the first day of acting class rather than having skipped the whole course.

Seeing as there appear to be transformers fans in this thread, could someone advise me where to start a 3 years old who is into mecha? There appear to be countless Transformer universes and I am not clear where to start him, if anywhere. The clips I've watched on youtube (beast wars, original 80s transformers, etc) have been pretty dark for kiddie.

We're currently halfway through Superior Defender Gundam Force, on the recommendation of a Japanese colleague. Brilliant for kids ( http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ4D7g-l3MM ).
