Would have been the right result if Diversity hadn't already been under Simon Cowell's wing for the last 12 months and the memory size of the phone lines were all equal phone
Got any more on this? I feel like the judges comments sway the fickle audiences vote so much, and the way he was so praising about their performance did make me wonder how that would affect their position.

And the award for the most unsurpising headline of the day goes......

Well just about all the newspapers today actually. I don't even watch the steaming pile of horse pooh that is Britains Got A Load Of Desperate People but from her brief appearances on the news (News? News? The worlds crumbling to dust around us and this on the news????) even I could tell all was not quite right about her. Guess she'll be another one used up and spat out by the money making machine that is Simon Cowell. Hopefully she'll get better soon and be able to forget about of all this, I really hope so.

And do you think it might be fixed? No, really, something that the well known control freak Cowell organised is fixed????
Haven't seen it don't want to. But best guess would be that they realised Miss Boyle was going a bit hatstand and made sure the dance troop won. Who will appear on the Royal Variety show dancing to some tune that Cowell has the rights for (just like that Singing in the Rain version last year?) which will then go to number one, which will make him lots of lovely money, from where they fade into obscurity and turning up at Butlins or Warner Lesiure Resorts to dance for pikeys wondering where it all went wrong.

While Cowell buys another Maybach and laughs at how stupid the British public are...

And that's why I don't watch such TV. Call me superior if you want - but I just feel so uncomfortable watching people who should be in care prancing about for our amusement.
Does that mean you avoid "Match Of The Day" as well, Eric? hehe
I'm trying to draw the distinction between genuine "entertainmenmt" as opposed to the public being encoraged to gawk at mental defficients.

I've nothing against talent shows. They have been part of the TV scene since its dawn. I just think that there is something unwholesome and genuinely concerning about the whole ethos behind "Britain's Got Talent (and a lot of other modern programming).

I'm as keen to be entertained as the next person - but I do try to distinguish between genuine entertainment and purient voyeurism.

So you DO avoid Match of the Day etc then........

I find it amazing that ITV pay Mr Cowell for this show and he also gets the rights to whatever acts appear on the show. So he gets publicity for acts which ITV pay him for...

Very droll smile

I actually like football and sports in general so I do watch MoTD fairly regularly. I'm not a die-hard football fan though and don't support any one team. I just like the game.

With the odd exception, most involved in football aren't mentally deranged smile
And, even if they are, that's not why people watch them on the pitch.

Sweet Jesus, could we all overanalyze this much more?

It's a light entertainment show in which some mildly entertaining people do some mildly entertaining things. The End. That's it. Next week it will be forgotten.

What surprises me is that TV has gone in this direction at all. We live in an age where anyone can have their own TV channel. If I wanted to sit in front of a webcam an juggle Laura Ashley teacups I could set up a channel on YouTube and have the worlds number one channel for Laura Ashley Teacup juggling (far better that the TG Green Mugs channel).

Any amateur can broadcast their assorted skills. You would have thought that TV would have risen to the challenge with more professional TV. More of what the amateurs cannot do, yet watching ordinary people seems to have become the hit of broadcasting, be it Britian's got Talent, Big Brother or The Apprentice.

What happened to Educate and entertain?

I wouldn't feel too sorry for her, she'll probably earn millions out of this before she even makes the inevitable album.

I'm not so sure.

I really think that this particular episode might have a very sad ending.

The only person guaranteed to make millions is Simon Cowell.

I guess it's easy money - they're paid for by the people who watch it and phone in with their votes - it's a win-win situation for the producers.

You want BBC1s Strictly Confidential for that mate, then you can learn some steps with Len.

I hope she wouldn't regret to challenge BGT. Even she got a lot of money , it doesn't mean she is happy. In final, she looked unhappy and didn't enjoy for singing like first challenge. frown

Nope. It's B-I-G money - for Cowell, for ITV (charging top-dollar time slot rates), for BT (all that premium price call revenue), for the record company (ie Cowell) that will push gazillions of SuBo's "Greatest Hits" CD's into Tesco etc etc.

Agreed. I don't think she looked like she was enjoying herself in the final. The trying to be sexy act, to me, looked cringeworthy and the actions of someone who wasn't happy with her predicament.

IMHO of course.
