Hi chaps,

Me and the mrs are planning on watching a scary film later, any recommendations? I havent seen a good one in ages, and Saw V was a big letdown!

Cheers!

Of the recent releases 'Quarantine' is OK - in a Blair Witch kinda style.

Or get of of the original Spanish version, "Rec." which is better.

I see a lot of people on here recommend 'Event Horizon,' is this a good choice?

nono

Scene-for-scene its exactly the same. Same dialogue, same sets, same make-up etc...

I watched both over 1 weekend and it was as if after each scene they swapped actors and re-did the scene - only in Spanish.

Quite surreal

I preferred Rec, but then since I saw this first I already knew exactly what was going to happen. You should still watch either one, the final act is one of the most intense I've seen in a long time

I think it depends on which you see first with a lot of hollywood remakes like this. For example, I didn't even know that they had remade the German film Funny Games, and didn't rate the Tim Roth remake. I saw Quarentine before Rec, and the second time around it didn't have the same impact as I knew what to expect ... The ending really was quite palm sweating in the cinema (more so for the GF when I poked her in the ribs just as the suspense built to max wink ), but the TV trailer showing the girl being dragged off spoilt it as I knew that that scene hadn't happened yet.

I think I might have missed the point, or wasn't 'living it' enough.. watched Rec last night and found the final scene quite abrupt, wasn't ready for the film to end at all

We watched Quarantine in the end, as Blockbuster didnt have Event Horizon!

We both thought it was very good, best horror ive seen in a long time! I particularly liked the way it was filmed, this gave it an extra edge as you only get to see what the camera sees!

Cheers for the recommendations guys!

Now get the film REC (or watch it on Sky Movies 2 at 11pm this Friday)

Bar the cast and Sub-Titles, its an (almost) exact duplicate of it and you can play spot-the-difference - perhaps a piece of furniture is out-of-place, I dunno, but I couldn't see it biggrin
