I think it's pretty funny - yes the situations are predictable, but it's all about the quick-fire banter. It's exactly as I remember school - taking the piss out of each other but somehow still having some bond which meant being friends.

I agree it is predictable, but the beauty is being able to relate to the characters and the things that happened in school. Everybody knew a Jay - a complete bull-stter.

Watched the Swanage field-trip episode last night. The bit-part characters, for me, are spot on...particularly Donovan, the bully.

"Eh up, here they are. Team tt".

Maybe I've just seen to much comedy that is actually good.

Compare it to.....'Curb Your Enthusiasm' ......and it is very poor.
yikes

Even a funeral is funny when compared to 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.

I must admit, I didn't like the Inbetweeners when I first saw it but I caught the second half of the episode that was on the other night (posh guy tries to have a party, foreign exchange-bloke ends up ball-deep in the girl he fancies) and it was quite funny in places. Ready to give it another try...

Yep, exactly the same!

Very funny.. Just like being at school again, taking the mick out of each other.. Things each each others mums, the geek crew.. The girl everyone liked and the slag girl.

I only started watching it recently so have been going through Series 2 on Catch Up but must get Series 1!

its a comedy about kids at school, i dont get why people are complaining about the standard of acting? It wouldnt exactly be realistic if it was oscar winning material, its pretty spot on if you ask me, some kids of that age struggle to let out more than a grunt, and plenty still feel awkward in their own skin, I dont remember school being full of Robert De Niro types quoting the bard ffs.

Its the same reason I love peep show, I can relate to that, as I think most can, we all think things that we would never say, and whatever front we put on, everyone has inscurities that they dont let on.

if you dont like peep show/inbetweeners you will probably get along better watching a disabled man repeatedly leaving his wheel chair behind his carers back, and riding a horse/jumping off a diving board/ add so on and on, and im sure you will still be laughing after the 100th time of seeing the same thing over and over again.

I love it! Some of the acting is a bit wooden but it's still great. Can't wait for series 3.

I'm the one who knows King of the Hill is funny.

Frankly I have no prejudice when it comes to comedy old/new, British/Yank/Aussie, Cartoon/live action/stand-up/sitcom etc/etc/etc. I approach all with an equally open mind and if I don't initially like it I come to it at a later date to make sure I wasn't judging it wrongly (as I pointed out in the OP) and try to watch a whole series before I make a judgement.

Aside from Cars, Comedy is my main passtime, I watch live stand-up regularly, watch a new comedy TV series nearly every week (it's 'Curb' series 7 and 'Frisky Dingo' series 2 this week) and have amassed a fairly hefty collection of TV comedy on DVD as well as all the streams and downloads on my computer.

Maybe my view goes against the grain but 'The Inbetweeeeeeeners' did not make me laugh and I don't apologise for that. It's not exactly hard to make me laugh either, I want every comedy I watch to be funny, it's far more likely (about 80%) that something will make me laugh than not.

It's my opinion, I made it based on my usual single criteria (did I laugh at it) with no prior prejudice. If you don't agree.... furry muff but comedy is a passion of mine and I stick by what I say.

Bloody love it - top show. It gets better the more you watch it. I didn't think much of the pilot but after a few episodes it grew on me. The second series is better than the first too, in my opinion. Can't wait for series 3! smile

Its a fantastic show.

First one I ever saw was from the second series where they are all in the little row boat with the fish. What happened next was so unpredicted, I couldnt stop laughing for ages.
