The film may well turn out to be craap but its immensely more embarrassing to admit you read the Stun.

looks great.

you have to realise the original was a popcorn flick...it wasnt meant to last for ever. 10 year olds wont watch the original today...its too dated when they have modern stuff to pick from. Its the same as expecting a 17 year old to be happy with a car from 1984 as his first motor.

This, from the trailer, looks like it takes an idea already established as a great concept and gives it a modern twist. The music, filming style (matrix esque) and look will all appeal to kids in a way the original wont. And the fly swat scene shows it knows it place.

If you love the original dont watch this....but my kids will love this so why deny them that chance?

Pop movies are about making money and entertaining people....this will do both with ease.

Remember kids today dont watch "classics" of yesteryear with the rose tinted glasses we do...my 9 year old laughed his way through Terminator because the FX were so poor....."dad...are you serious?? This scared you when you were 10.....its looks like something school kids made"

Sorry, pal, missed off the smiley due to Christmas Eve merriment. Only a light hearted comment. No offence intended. beer

Han was a nasty fker...........originally:

Bruce Lee is probably ranting up there: "Haaaan. Even in new film? I still invite for tea, then [highpitch]whaaaaaaadaaaaaaaaaa[/highpitch]. And. Break. Neck."

But when it happens I won't even notice; I'd be too busy looking good!

Well, against my will I watched this film, and actually really quite enjoyed it.

Haven't seen it yet, but watched the original this morning. Probably the main thing that worries me is in the original Daniel had the air of a slightly beaten down underdog who was being confronted by a group of people older and stronger than him. In the remake I don't know if I'll be able to shake the feeling of watching a rich kid who's only there because of Daddy.

Interesting comparison here if you have 20 minutes to spare

I agree and I did say to my OH with mummy and daddy producing/directing (I forget which!) I wonder how he got the job....

BUT, he actually seemed like a really, really good actor and did indeed have the air of an underdog in a fashion.

Remakes like this are sad. They try to get around the sadness by calling it a reboot.
sadly it does not hide the hideous lack of creativity or greyness of the suits who produce this drivel.

Though I could be wrong!
And I was, it was actually rathr good.

Not sure if I was scarred or not at the Terminator, I prolly was, but it remains one of the best sci-fi films yet made, regardless of the 80s effects or not. A 10 year old can laugh his way through an 18 with lots of killings?biggrin

Saw this a while back and it is actually bloody good. Forget your rose tinted view of the original, that was a cheesy flick. This 're-imagine' is so much better.

Jayden Smith is actually a great little actor and surprisingly good at the Kung Foo moves he plays (Jackie Chan has gone on record that Jayden is easily one of his best students he has ever trained).
Jackie Chan is utterly brilliant when given a role that requires virtually no fight scenes, he actually has to act and pulls it off well. He really can act when given something to get his teeth into. smile

But for me it's worth watching for one (surprisingly moving) scene.. those who have seen the movie will know which one I'm talking about, involves practice canes. Brilliant cinematography.

I will argue all day long that the original Terminator is the best. For me it's the only one of the series to realise that the actual concept of a machine pursuing you is terrifying
