The review "Fern Gully vs Team America" summed it up quiet nicely for me
Spot on. While correct in your assessment that is a feast for the eyes (except for the uncomfortable blue sex scene) I fail to see how anyone over the age of twelve could be impressed with the storyline.
I got it on Monday, never got a chance to see it at the cinema so was a first for me, thought its a very good film every bit as good as the reviews suggest. Watched it on my PC, but I should imagine the Blu-Ray with surround sound must be very good, and in 3D at the cinema would be incredible. Regret not going to see it now!

Whenever I talk about avatar with folk, I always say that they should re-release it in the cinema in a year or so in 3D, to show people that didn't see it what they are missing. Was an amazing film to watch, even though I had a cramp in my leg for the last 25 minutes or so from sitting so long! One thing that isn't irritating, but a point. Is that it's a 'turn your brain off' kind of story, but you stay so engaged with it by the amazing visuals
It's visually impressive but that's about it, it certainly isn't a great film.
The two things that annoyed me - Pandora (original name guys, I mean would you seriously name a planet Pandora - that's aasking for trouble) and unobtanium? I mean really is that the best you can do? I know it's just a mcguffin but at least make an effort.

Seems it is still showing in 3D at some Vue cinemas
This is going to be the first film I go and see at the cinema after buying on DVD
There is also an extended version due to come out on the big sceen later in the year http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2010/0...

I guess if you don't get the story it's beyond your intellect?
Getting the story isn't the issue. We've all seen Fern Gully/Dances with Wolves/Pocohantas... The problem with the story isn't that we don't understand it, rather that is has been done many times before. Originality would have made it a far better film, and not just a cgi fest.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
