Just watched this on film 4. What a brilliantly, epically naff film that was. If anyone liked the Matrix for the pointless fighting, and can deal with a shoddily third rate plot (think matrix 2 or 3 level of bad plottage), then this film is well worth seeing. Especially for the utterly comic "kung fu with guns" battle near the end.

I thought that the first time I saw it.

On repeated viewings I quite enjoyed it.

Ok the plot is familiar and there are matrix tones but still quite a good film IMO

I started watching this the other night, gave up after 10 minutes due to the extreme naffness. I sometimes wonder how major stars manage to get involved in such terrible films - do they sack their agents afterwards ?

Like a lot of these films, they work best if you take your brain out before watching.

By no means a great film but its a B-Movie with some original ideas and the 'gun kata' fight sequences are nicely done.

IIRC this was actually made before the original Matrix however wasn't released until after, and hence it got a bad rap as everybody immediately compared the two. Saying that it still has a firm place in my guilty pleasures list wink

its a great film with some beautiful concepts in it, like feeling emotion for the first time and finding it overwhelming. And who didnt find it hard when they started killing the dogs?

Brilliant film smile

Yip, could have had Canoe Reeves as the lead.

The Matrix was hardly original. It was derivative as it gets, but packaged in a highly stylish way.

I watched the other night, did anyone else notice that a couple of the dialogues where actually discussing how they feel? In a society where your not allowed feelings? That kind of spoiled it for me..

That was my main gripe too.
Also, anyone watching bale about an hour after he stopped taking the injections would have seen that he had emotions.

Hell, he damn near cried about 3 times and did once in front of 100's of people.

If you find yourself saying "I pay it gladly" at the supermarket you KNOW you are an Equilibrium geek.

I actually liked the film.

an, if it's actually good from the start, I'm going to have to watch the first half now. No idea what this dog businsess is, I turned it on when the black fella was saying cleric a lot. After that, most of the dialogue was in arty fight scenes, or shots of those fetish people with rifles. Either way, I was entertained =)
