C'etait un Rendezvous
Eight minutes and 38 seconds of pure driving film.
Gone off that as it turns out it was just a Merc jumping some lights with a redub. frown
That accepted, he was shifting at some points

'Duel' is a good one with Speilberg over working the viewers imagination as always.

Best car chase for me

Live and Die in La. Awsome with loads of tension.

Best driving film 'Vanishing Point' as mentioned above

'Fear is the key' has a long chase scene but I think its very dated now

What about Ronin (not really a driving film but got a good couple of car chases in it) or American Graffiti?

I saw the new Death Race a few weeks ago. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be but not what I'd call a good film.
The reason why the car chases in Ronin were so good is that both films were directed by the same director
If you're interested in cars in fims there was a good book written a few years ago on the subject.

Great film, and an even greater demonstration of how average 1970's American cars really weren't keen on corners. Then again, Dennis Weaver almost deserved a pasting for driving on those roads at 40mph silly

So the chase in Fear is the Key is dated but what about the jump onto the floating bridge (do the sills touch the floor after the jump?)

Indeed, and there is always the thought that if we were driving that shed then the big bad truck wouldnt have stood a chance.

Great film! smile

This has reminded me. In driving films why is that even when cars are racing down a straight nearly flat out, someone then simply changes gear and passes the other car, and vice versa. How many gears do they have and why didn't they just put it into topgear beforehand??
