Me too. This was rumoured to be the Cloverfield prequel but I think he has denied that and said this is unrelated.

Am I being dense, I get to the part where you get Execute, Commit to tape drive, Print and Reenter at the bottow of the screen but can't get any further.

I still think this is going to be a prequel of sorts to Cloverfield, maybe not a direct prequel to the film but just some of the back story. The creature that's in the carriage is some sort of alien which was being held at "Area 51", it escapes and generally causes chaos during this film and is in hiding until the events of Cloverfield.

Whatever it's about, I can't wait to see it already.

In cloverfield it's implied the monster arrived via a comet

It's seen crashing into the sea in the background of the video (from a few days before) that is partly overwritten but after the goodbyes at the end of the film the old recording comes back and you see it splash down.

Super 8 is said to be filmed in 1979. Quite a few years before Cloverfield though. That's a long time between the 2.

Yep, I'm pretty sure someone involved in the film said the creature was already here, and had been for some time, and the splash at the end just woke it up. They've also written a whole past and future story for it apparently, this is what's making me think they're being selective with the truth and although not a direct prequel it has something to do with what happened in Cloverfield.
