Although that was an advert for the American market. Will there be an Xmas showing in the UK?

Boring rambling self indulgent toss and Martin Freeman still can't act

Same as last years drivel then.

Another filler episode with nothing to do with Moriarty.

Disappeared up its own arse.

Why do these programmes always end up abandoning the main character and start focusing on the backstory of a totally uninteresting sidekick? Who actually cares about what Watson's boring fking wife does?

Remember when Sherlock and John would just solve a case together?

Well there's nothing much else on but it wasn't gripping was it. Oh how could a pathologist tell when someone died if all they've got is a burnt skeleton?

Yep liked the start, all went down hill when she came in. But I suppose they have to have a super hero woman for quotas or somthing.

Well

Contrary to the growing consensus above, I enjoyed the storytelling and thought the dramatisation made absolutely stunningly good TV. Well acted and directed!

Was the red head literally NOTHING to do with the episode? Just a bit of filler?!

Or did I miss something?

Indeed, why not just have a crime and investigate it rather than all the nonsense about her being a ninja.

They have a jewel in Benedict Cucumberpatch and a rich literary history to draw on.

Initial episodes were largely great and with limited seasonal outings no need to flog a format to death a la Jonathan Creek. -So why did the aquarium sharks feel like clever symbolism to show how many have been jumped in the last couple of shows? Some Holby City acting and ludicrous favours asked of the audience, (jumping in front of a bullet shot from feet away, some strangely unlikely sets, and vinyl seats in a Focus?) There's just no need to bring Hollywood B movie action into the mix and Martin Freeman must feel like he's got on the wrong train.

fk off BBC.

That was utter dogst.

The car mystery made me think we might actually get a proper mystery like in the first couple of series but then it all went sub-Bourne with that awful secret agent wife.

I liked it SO much up the Reichenbach Fall that I especially hate what it is now...

In the writers quest to flesh out the stories of the sidekicks they forgot to add much mystery solving, apart from me trying to work how John thought be would get away with what he did when he's friends with the worlds detective and married to a spy..

I suspect she'll turn up in later episodes as Watson's new girlfriend but then turn out out be Moriarty's sister or something.....

Also why exactly did she jump in front of the bullet? If she'd done it for John it might have made a tiny degree of sense but as it was...

Maybe the next one might be better, though to be honest I suspect any story not based off one of the classics is going to be more about the writer indulging themselves rather than anything decent.

I think when they showed her jump, Sherlock was in his mind palace and she actually jumped before the bullet was fired. It was just done quite poorly.

Or she can stop time....

Hm. That wasn't as good as I'd hoped. There was so little Sherlock-Watson interaction, which has been one of the strengths of the show so far. Mind you, I did allow myself a little cheer at the shooting scene at the Aquarium - suspending disbelief is a bit difficult when we're constantly being asked to think Mary is a super-skilled ninja assassin type. I wonder whether Molly will play a more prominent part now so that the show isn't too "male" for the BBC.
