Discussion
Let's not forget prisoner cell block h,the show that was never in the same slot for more than a few weeks and then it would be taken off to watch reruns of snooker from the previous day...
lets just thank god that itv lost the rights to televise the f1. Sooner they lose all other live sports the better.
Oh great Xcrement factor is back...

They also used to do...
....
Their local news budget seems to have disappeared and where I used to live (Somerset), they have just one region now showing news from Bristol / Bath right down to Cornwall. Why they think someone from Truro would be interested in what is happening in Avonmouth beats me...
I agree with that one. 'Closer to home..' I think is their tag line.....

Living on the east coast I hear news from everywhere from Corby to Cambridge to Southend and even Oxford(?) but as for local news...
I know the local news was a bit boring 'Tin falls off shelf' or whatever. But it had a more homely and friendlier feeling to it.
Really, I only watch it now for Amanda Houston

We were watching the Matrix Revoutions last night and without fail every single advert break was inserted slap bang in the middle of a piece of dialoge, how hard is it to put an advert break into a film?
I am beginning to think that it is automated with the break appearing at a set time regardless of programme content.Edited by Morningside on Monday 16th August 14:05
Almost as bad as FILM4....
...which is my choice of sttest channel.
A channel dedictated to films, which repeats the same ste over and over.
It's got to the point where me and the wife can play guess the 9pm film and get it right quite often.
The Day After Tomorrow
The Beach
The Family Stone
Just Married
School of Rock
Over and over.
I mean, I like Saving Private Ryan but it was the 9pm film on Tuesday and Sunday!
Get some new stuff!!

ITV local news is just as bad around here, when the headlines come up you can hear "a man with a knife is walking around town" Oh god I think and just as I'm about to phone my mother to tell her to avoid town they say "police in wrexham are looking for a man with a knife" wrexham, sodding wrexham is 90 fecking miles away you tards.
Oh and lucy is mine, she mouths words to me as she presents the weather

You know, that classic line from Nobody Home - Pink Floyd rings so true:
"Got thirteen channels of st on the TV to choose from"
More choice my arse! Its all recycled crap.
The ITV coverage of the elections was the best by far out of the BBC and (of course) Sky.
When you consider that ITV if free, the service it provides is superb. If you watch Sky News and then try ITN you will realise the evils of Fox. Limitations are placed on ITV that are not on Sky. Can't think why. I mean it is not as if Murdoch throws money and this newspapers at whichever political party he thinks will get in.
ITN provides a balance to BBC news and Sky's. It provides a balance as well come to that.
ITV has had to go through massive budget cuts and still are. If the recession gets worse they cuts will increase. The BBC, with their income nicely guaranteed, thank-you very much, comes up with The Deep.
I've got Sky and I always get the Radio Times each week and look through what's on ITV. Some of their factual programmes are excellent.
Whilst they repeat films I believe that Sky does as well.
The problem with ITV is the political control. Take off the restrictions and the requirements and they'd be able to provide what the viewer wants.

I think "providing what the viewer wants" is why it is fading fast. When you consider that ITV if free, the service it provides is superb. ITV's output compared to the 70s and 80s is truly dire.
People need to remember that the ITV we have today is a very different entity to what it was 20 plus years ago. It wasn't a single chanel back then and the regional stations had massive independence from any central controlling authority. ITV was so fragmnented in those days it hardly ever referred to itself as ITV.
