Forgot that Pan's Labyrinth was in Spanish.
All of Del Toro's work is worth watching.

The Orphanage and Rec are decent horror films too.

Tokyo Drifter
A Bittersweet Life (almost a remake of Tokyo Drifter)
R-Point

Love City of God, Black Book is good too.

Also, La haine, watched it a few years ago now but remember it being good. Basically about 3 teens growing up on a Parisian council estate with th ususal racial tension, crime vices etc,

Stalingrad

With subs, not the crappy dubbed version.

First time i saw it i felt truly uncomfortable at times, the scene with the tanks in the snow will always stick in my mind. Truly grim.

I really enjoyed this but WTF? It's like the Stepford Wives in IKEA.

Downfall (excellent Hitler's bunker-based film, in German)
+1
The actor playing the role of Hitler was brilliant.
(Not to mention all the youtube spoofs based on the film)

Also liked Apocalypto.

On a different note, I find the french comedy Les Visiteurs very entertaining.

Not a movie, but "The Matroesjka's" Belgian TV series in Flemish/Dutch is brilliant. If you can get hold of it on DVD with English subs its well worth a watch.

(Gritty drama about Eastern European girls forced into prostitution)
On a not disimlar note, I'm quite surprised (although I know this isn't "The Lounge") that no-one's mentioned "Baise Moi"?

Delicatessen
City of Lost Children
The Telephone Box
Amelie
A Very Long Engagement
A Prophet
Sin Nombre
Mesrine
13 Tzameti
Once Upon a Time in China series

to name just a few in addition to those already mentioned. There's just so many to choose from and just love watching a truly innovative or well made film that isn't American or English in origin.

Thought of another two good ones; Che (with Benicio Del Toro) and The Good, The Bad and The Weird which is a kind of spaghetti western set in China (which I guess makes it a spaghetti eastern) - very funny film.

Oh and Machine Gun Girl wink

District 13 and district 13 ultimatum

I prefered the second film but both good. If you want an action movie done with continental style you can't go wrong.

Battle royale is a good Japanese film
