Really? Your glasses - they're rose tinted, aren't they? The original had bad acting, utterly useless special effects (remember the baby hybrid being born - a muppet looked more realistic), and dragged the story out painfully.

This series is much better paced.

I never saw the original version, but enjoyed the new Series 1 earlier this year.
Looking forward to Series 2 coming soon.

The new series is in a different league to the original, and is much, much better. Try watching an episode of both, and back-to-back; you'll soon see what I mean.

New, Series 1, Episode 1 was on Channel 1 last night.

Quite good, but a little too fast paced imo.. I'm sure it took the original series about 3-4 episodes to cover what was shown last night, if not more!!

Still, looking forward to the next episode.

First 4 episodes were quite fast paced, but they only had an initial agreement to do 4 episodes, with further ones being based on the success of the first 4.

The first season does vary in pace, but is generally very enjoyable.

Yes it was quite fast paced but I think it was simple enough to track what was happening (though I wondered how well I would have coped had I not seen the 80s original)....

I got bored of this after five or six episodes. Did it get any better?

Snap, but I think it threw Mrs eps.... I didn't mind it being fast paced! Still remember the "original" and taping the episodes - esp. when we went on holiday!! It caused havoc iirc because of the length of the episodes..

overall an improvement, no little wires attached to the ships for one and a bit more use of cgi, some nice plot twists smile
