It is very good, I'm really hoping they do some prequels/sequels. I love giant monster attack films!

ETA: This might be of interest http://www.super8-movie.com/ , the makes have said it's not a true prequel to Cloverfield but I really do think it has something to do with the back story.

I thought it was st. It's not believable at all as a film shot from a camcorder as most of the stuff on there, like the arguments etc at the start wouldn't have been recorded as they would've told the cameraman to stop/he wouldn't have recorded stuff like that. I know you have to suspend your disbelief for a film, but that annoyed me from the start. Of course you also have the monsters abililty to sneak up on people when it suits the story, despite shaking the ground he walks on when it suits the story at other points. Inconsistency in films is crap.
If you want to see a good horror film with a camcorder style of filming, watch quarantine.

Cloverfield was ok. It didn't live up to the hype by any stretch, but then I'm not convinced JJ's work ever does (ending of Lost...)!

The best thing about Cloverfield was the alternate reality game that preceded it. It made 'Cloverfield' more than just a film. I've followed a couple of ARGs before, but none of them were quite as good as Cloverfield. I'd not have enjoyed the film half as much if I'd just gone into it the way I would any other film.

I quite enjoyed it, the shot of the head of the Statue of Liberty flying past was very good. I was quite surprised when the 'cameraman' was eaten at the end !!

Yeah I agree some of the imagery in the film is great, but if I'd been in NYC when that st went down, you wouldn't have seen me for dust. I just don't understand why they all just hung around waiting to be spaffed on by the monsters. I know films don't have to always be realistic but plausible reactions help
