I know this show has probably been discussed to death, but I could not refrain from starting another topic about how utterly superb The Wire is.

I am pretty late to the party but feel fortunate that I still have four seasons to go.

I urge anyone who has not watched this yet to get a copy and devote hours to it (put the subtitles on!). I pretty much felt every emotion possible when I watched Season 1 - anger, futility, sadness, laughter, hope and lots of air-high-fives.

It is the best thing I have seen.

Moments of Season 1 for me:

- McNulty picking a drunken Bunk up from a random woman's house, Bunk in a pink dressing gown having burnt his clothes as 'evidence'.

- D'Angelo's chess lesson.

- Wallace getting killed (that was hard to watch)

- The shot up the stairs when they finally pick up Barksdale. You can see McNulty would do anything to take Stringer too but they have nothing on him. A look of pure frustration.

- Stringer saying "nicely done" to McNulty in the courthouse, the same words McNulty used in the first episode.

Just fantastic.

I've just finished season 2 and thought it was excellent. Time to start Season 3 now.

Another top bit in Series 1 was the investigation of the bullet trajectories, where nothing is actually discussed, other than the exchange of a series of 'f***!'.
