Seen the Canadian ones before, but am puzzled on the Alaska series however, as I belive the Dalton is open in the summer? - unlike the Canadian across the lakes & ocean roads, so why the rush to get it done in the winter window? esp with those conditions.

Supprised Alaska law allows 15 hour hgv driver hours in those conditions! vs 9 hrs under euro trucking laws (2x10 hrs)

I've often thought that as well. Prudhoe is on land I believe but sometimes they have to go out on the ocean ice to reach other rigs.

Also I've seen them, more season 4 than 3, having to take loads to the towns of Bettles and Nuiqsut that can only be reached over frozen rivers.

False peril is all part of the show. They did it on that Eddie Stobart thing even though the worst that could happen was getting stuck on traffic on the M25 (!!!).

American employment laws are much less restrictive than Europe's in general. Whether that is a good thing or not depends on your situation, I suppose.

Regarding driveing hours for HGV,s,when i worked in north africa in the 80,s we had to drive 24/7 as their was no laws or vosa to worry about. The pay wer,nt much but the excitement was worth so much,i look back on it with fond memories.

Drove through mountain roads in Guatemala, mountain on one side, sheer 1,000 foot cliff on the other. At points, the roads was narrow enough not to be seen from the driver's window. About that time a bus was seen heading my way. scratchchin Crucifixes with dates painted all over the cliff walls. Cheery just ain't the word for it.
