ah come one, he's funny as hell, back in the 80's when he said OOOOOOOOOOOOKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY that was hilarious the first.. er.. one time.
And it's been all down hill since there.

Maybe not THE least funny person alive, but he's in the top 10.

Of the people in the world who claim to be 'comedians' then he is almost definitely the least funny.

He's still 100% funnier than John Bishop though.

rofl You're joking, right? Lenny Henry isn't 100% funnier than anyone on the planet. Over reliance on race jokes IMO....

There's another black guy who goes on HIGNFY, is it Reginald D Hunter, who's another one the same. Can't tell a joke without being related to the colour of his skin....

according to someone on twitter (and i dont think they are being sarcastic)

"Here's something I'd never thought I'd say. But Lenny Henry still kills it as a standup comedian."

He won New Faces, 1976 I think. He was quite a revelation then. Groundbreaking and funny to boot.
So did Jim Davidson and he's never been funny either. At least Davidson's had the good grace to fk off to Dubai which, with any luck, is where he'll stay.

Lenny Henry was funny some years ago, but to be honest he has got stale over the past few years. Seems like he is now begging people to laugh at his dry jokes.

Some time ago being 1975. For the first joke. His material was already out of date before the punchline.

Never really found his stand up funny. Some of the character stuff used to be good, and he was good in the series I can't remember the name of where he was an inner city head teacher, but as a comedian now? Nope.

Yes he is 100% funnier than John Bishop. Because John Bishop is a talentless, useless fkwit who will hopefully disapear from public life very soon.
Lenny Henry did at least make me laugh when I was 8 years old.

I started to watch The Magicians.

Apart from it being rubbish anyway Lenny Henry was simply dreadful. Awful, in fact.

As said above, he's a better actor. Been going downhill since Tiswas.

I used to like LH as Gareth Blackstock in Chef. Admittedly it was a sitcom, so scripted, but thought he was good in it. Other than that, not a fan.

I saw him live two years ag and I thought he was great, he must use his less funny/safer stuff on the BBC. I think he is a great voice actor, Big And Small on Cbeebies is fantastic.

edit - Micheal Mcintrye must be the unfunnest man alive.

John Bishop, as unfunny as he is unlikeable. I simply cannot comprehend his popularity.

Its not the main reason, but I do think it's funny (yes I know it's childish).

It's a classic case of leeching off other comedians - think Skinner and unfunny Baddiel - now he's on his own people are starting to wake up to the fact he's not funny. 3 of kind in the 80's he relied on other people.

I reckon it's because he's black the industry are wary of dropping him completely for fear of any backlash.
Let's face it, there's never been any funny black comedians that don't do the "I'm a black person and..." or "You white folk are..." or "My mother/father..." in a bad Jamaican accent cards.

Apart from Richard Blackwood, he's a genius. hehe

Is it just me, or did John Cleese stop being funny about, erm, 25 years ago? All downhill since Fawlty and Holy Grail + Life of Brian. Sad.

There has only been one genuinely funny instance that involved Lenny Henry and that was on one of the Dawn French threads on here when someone expressed surprise that a poster didn't find Frech humourous and got the reply "I've never laughed at anything Lenny Henry's been in".

I thought that was hilarious, though none of the credit goes to Lenny Henry.
