After all of the usual pumped-up hype I thought the skydiving stunt was presented in a rather subdued fashion. I can't help feeling that the Ginger's apology won't quite do the job. I reckon that the s**t will start flying when investigations are underway as to why a novice was let loose at whatever altitude it was and left to fend for herself with no apparent back-up. Skydiving is not my thing but I've seen the results of it going wrong a few times.
Older PH'ers may remember a bodged stunt on the Noel Edmonds show many years ago which culminated in a fatality and a lot of fallout (unfortunate phrase perhaps) - although this was less serious I suspect we'll be hearing more on the subject....

West End "star" jumps out of a plane at 15,000 feet and then free-falls for 10,000 feet accompanied by 2 experienced skydivers. At 5,000 feet her chute is deployed but a "freak gust of wind" (?) separates her from the other divers and she becomes "lost" and drifts some 2 miles away from the designated DZ with little sign of any navigational activity beneath the canopy. She eventually lands unscathed but tearful.
To be fair she had apparently taken an approved AFF (accelerated freefall) course so I guess she was just a victim of stage fright - but I'm sure the full details will out eventually.

That was the first jump of an AFF course though, so all was done in accordance with the right methods etc as far as I could see. It was just she forgot she had risers to control the 'chute - which could have been a problem if she'd had twists in the line etc. She could have just turned back around a few times..Saying that, we had a guy land about 6 miles away once - a storm cloud came over whilst he was under canopy and just shoved him along.... And he was a chap who had about 500 jumps to his name.
The series took a little while to gain momentum. Took the tribe to watch it being filmed last night at the Echo arena and after seeing the first few on the telly had to say it WAS under duress that I was dragged there last night after a long day at work.
I have to say I actually had a really really good night, atmosphere is nine tenths with anything like this and I've watched tonights offering through fresh eyes as it really was brilliant fun being there.
And after watching it being made last night I have found a new respect for the people who bring live shows like this to our screens. They work very hard indeed. In the flesh the horsey lesbian is still as wooden as a rocking chair though!
