....if nothing is ever on at the advertised time?

I've got Dakar set on series link on HD, but all I get is crap like tennis, golf or tiddly winks.

Seriously it's terrible!

I was going to follow the IRC but I cannot be bothered if all I'm going to get in Crown Green Bowling. frown

On a more positive note I managed to catch some Dakar by complete accident tonight as I was up feeding the baby and the footage was amazing. especially in HD. smile

Yes this drives me nuts. Flick over because something interesting is on and instead they are showing live bolivian caterpillar racing or something equally unrelated.

I've also got the Dakar on Series Link on my Sky+ box and it seems to keep track of the time changes pretty well, often changing the planned time of the show several times in an evening.

I've given up trying to watch the show live and just watch the recording an hour or so later (or next day), it seems to catch the end of each show, you just have to accept you'll have to Fast Forward through 10-15mins of skiing or Caribbean 20-20 cricket first.

I set my sky box to record the 10pm highlights show one day last week, it recorded it okay but didn't knock off at the end of the programme and it was still recording at 7am having used 26% of the planner! scratchchin

Its probably because alot of it is live, there are alot of chances for the schedule to get knocked out of sync by delays in play. It is annoying but there isn't much they could do about that I imagine.

I know from the sharp end that Motors is very hot on running to time.

If they showed crown green bowling I might watch! Remember it being on BBC2 decades ago.

I'd like them to show LMES races in full rather than 20 minutes at the start and 20 minutes at the end, or give coverage back to Motors TV.

It shows Tour De France, so I wish they would sort it out.

Eurosport prioritise showing live events to the end over keeping highlights/repeats on at the advertised time. It is frustrating if you're trying to record something specific but I'd imagine you'd get those watching the live events complaining if it suddenly cut out to show something pre-recorded.

They'd also rather miss the start of the next live broadcast than the end of the current one.

Drives me nuts, they show, on occasion World Cup downhill Mountain Bike events, OK fair enough it's a pretty fringe sport these days (but should get better publicity, I mean fking bowls gets 'big 4' showings!!) they've not live, but shown a few days later usually.

They rarely start when they're meant too, common for ES, but it seems utterly random the full event takes about 6 hours because it's a time trial and their are dozens and dozens of riders, the 'main event' is the top 10 male and female riders who go down last.

ES allocate and hour to show the event, fair enough so you sit through 59 mins of watching 'local riders' wildcards and kids throwing themselves at the scenery minutes of the place and then finally they show a card and it's almost "by the way, Gee Atherton won, Greg Minar was second and Steve Peat 3rd".
Plus the commentators were clearly not present at the event, fair enough it goes out in dozens of languages, but they could give them a crib sheet so they don’t keep making nonsense comments, mixing technical terms and getting rider names wrong .

It's the best coverage for MotoGP bar none. Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Neil Spalding are a brilliant comentary combo. I don't bother with the BBC coverage with that tt Parrish despite it being live and free to view (Eurosport being subscription)

I have it on series link on the planner and don't seem to have had any problems so far.

I've always thought that these lawn bowls, badminton whatever it is that's interrupting the LMES all the time must be paying to be on Eurosport. Maybe their administrators are a bit more organised with enough budget to plough into guaranteeing this coverage for their sport.

As has been said above, the timing shifts are usually due to live programming being shown. There is quite a simple solution to this, record the program before the one you want, the actual program you want and for good measure, also record the program after. That way, you usually get the thing you are after!

Eurosport is the only channel I am aware of that shows both British Superbikes and World Superbikes, usually with all the races live. For this reason, Eurosport is fantastic.

Oh well, glad it's not me, thought I was going mad.

Simple solution would be to have all highlights stuff on a separate channel. Easy. smile

Dakar coverage is rubbish.

I have "Cherman" Eurosport where I live but can switch commentary to English. I HATE the background music they insist on adding, with the commentary, to the already very short Dakar highlights every day.

Does that background music exist on the Dakar highlights on UK Eurosport?

Yes it does.
