Well, mrs chav laughs like a drain when this is on, and for the life of me, i cant see whats so funny. No wonder the producers had to use canned laughter for the show

What's canned laughter? It's either multi camera and filmed in front of studio audience (who, staggering but true, you can hear) or it's single camera and no audience. Very, very rarely does an audience get show the footage and the laughs added on that way (i think last of the summer wine did this)

You really think they filmed it then thought "oh, lets go get some canned laughs"??????

I really don't understand why this show attracts so much venom from some people. Critically acclaimed, obviously well liked by a large chunk of the viewing audience and not controversial or offensive. I happen to like it but if I didn't I wouldn't be aggressively slagging it off.

Shows what a personal thing humour is - I like Miranda, but on the other hand, The Simpsons bypasses me completely, just don't get it.

Miranda is not funny on any level. It's not technically funny, it's not slapstick funny, it's not ironic or satirical.

It's just terrible.

Meh - it's the internet. Anything other than an extreme opinion won't attract much of a response. For some reason, instead of:
"Yeah it's quite popular and I know a lot of people who like it but it's not for me."

You must post:
"She is the least funny person ever... as funny as cancer... I hate her... I hope she dies... etc."

I saw a few clips and really didn't think I'd like it but after watching a few episodes in full I do think it's pretty funny. Certainly one of the better comedies of recent years.

Such a dumb thing to say. HUGE numbers of people like it and find it funny, so it is.

Just because you dont like it doesnt mean it's as you describe - it's as stupid a thing to say as me (who's never seen a whole game of football in my life) saying "that david beckham, he's rubbish"

Miranda's job is to write/star in a comedy that people and critics like....given the awards, viewing figures and move to BBC1 she's very good indeed.

T (ps - never seen it myself)

If pop music has taught me anything, it's that something doesn't have to be good to be liked by millions.

Nope. I'd still take 20 hours of her drivel over a one-liner from Lenny Henry.

'Stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre won Best Male TV Comic'

And there in a nutshell sums up the awards. He is not funny, just lame.

Britain doesn't do comedy any more, it cannot be funny.

Best Male TV Comic.......Russell Howard??? Frankie Boyle????

hehe

Some people need to understand the difference between "it's not funny" and "I don't find it funny".

Frankie Boyle is more offensive than funny now. If you still get shocked by the things he says then I'm sure he's funny but I don't.
Russell Howard is OK.

While McIntyre is an annoying tt, his material (While observational, which some call hack) is quite solid.

He's the Souths Peter Kay.

I caught one of the early episodes of Miranda and thought it was dreadful.

The Mrs liked it though so I ended up catching a few more and it's grown on me. We actually both wanted to see the new series and specifically sat down together to watch it. It can be very clever and very stupid at the same time, I don't really like the slapstick bits but you have to admire her for doing them.

So why do millions of people watch his shows and buy his DVD's? And before you say they are all idiots....many in his audience will be richer, smarter and more successful than you (or I) - his crowd is massively diverse (hence his wealth) He's not filling the O2 with chimps that just follow the crowd.....people find him very funny.

Always staggers me how people who dont understand the difference between "i dont find him funny..." and "he isnt funny..." get through the day. They must feel like they are living in a land of nutters where 99% of people cant see the obvious fact that all these famous comics/musicians/actors/etc are all rubbish!

Someone can be st and still be popular.
Cheryl Cole is a ste singer, but a great brand. As such she sells.
That doesn't mean she's any good.

Popularity must not be mixed up with talent.

Jordan is popular, she has no discernible talent.
Her book was a best seller, that doesn't mean it was good.

See where I'm coming from with this?

once again, sadowitz is overlooked.

no justice.
Right...cause he's all over our screens isnt he!
It's a miracle that he EVER got onto our screens biggrin
Sadowitz needs to be recognized as the purest comedien of all time, nothing is off limits to him which may seem bad, but while he offends everyone, he discriminates against no one. A brave brave comedic genius too easily overlook due to his offensiveness.
