A brilliant bit of retrospective plot hole-filling, just for you smile

The Untouchables. At the end, where they guy (the mayor) says somehting, and then gets thrown off the roof. I dont get it.

Start of Goldfinger. Everyone says the first bit, with the tuxedo under the frogman suit refers to the end of the previous film. The previous film has nothing like this, despite showing bits of From Russia with Love in the title sequence

Top Gun: "The plaque for the alternists is in the Ladies room".... and much hilarity. Never got it when I was 10, still dont get it now

Independence day, the whole thing was just a bit far fetched y'know.

Especially that the 'advanced aline civilisation' only had small ships whose principle weapons were line of sight targetted.

I just couldn't suspend my disbelief at that point.
You never got to the uploading a virus via mac to kill the mothership then?
I mean, how did they even connect into the network? (shoddy Alien security?) and were the Aliens running windows?
The attacks on the Alien base ships with missiles. We do possess the technology to carpet-bomb the bcensoreds from 20,000 feet.
Equally, a small nuke would've been deliverable with split-second timing to every alien ship globally, and they'd already used one on Houston, so the moral line had been crossed.

Spinning off from the star wars thread...

What films do you have an issue with??

LOTR i was disappointed that legolas and gimli were reduced to comedy sidekicks rather than some legendary fighters they were meant to be.

dont get me started on armageddon...
Lots, but since you bring that one up, Aragorn reduced to a petulant runaway, Elrond is a , and the story makes no sense (Hobbits revealing themselves to a Black Rider? It should have been film over right therebiggrin)

The Mayor??

The guy who gets thrown off the roof is a hit man who killed Sean Connery's character. He gets all smug that Elliot Ness has to arrest him (being all above board straight cop) and then gets arsey and starts telling Ness that Connery "squeeled like a stuck pig" and how he will walk (being connected to the mayor etc).

Ness then decides to throw him off the roof (proper justice?).

Not sure why that was hard to get?

No issues, just an understanding that a lot of things in films are bks but I’ll continue to watch them. Things such as –

The guns that have never ending rounds that are also able to lift the bad guys from their feet and drop them 20 feet away.

If a window blows out in aeroplane and the next few minutes are spent watching people being sucked off out of the plane systematically

Also when they let in the 50 year old spaceship into the mothership without questioning its origin. Did they not have any evolution in the design of their fighters or log their serial numbers on entry?

Don't try and rationalise anything about Star Wars, especially the prequels.

Basically the reason is "because George Lucas made it up as he went along" - and there are plenty of fanboys who will write fanfiction like the above to cover up every plot hole in their beloved Star Wars universe. Just sit down and enjoy it and don't think about it. (Does not apply to I-II-III)

I like the bit in Jurassic park where the Velociraptor keeper is telling someone or other that "the Raptors will defend themselves, violently if necessary"
What, if the leaflet campaign doesn't work?

Pretty much any historically based story mangled by Hollywood.
