Didn't realise it was out - been looking forward to it (but with a measured sense of optimism rather than fanboi-ism)

Does this film make any sense to people who don't play with extremely expensive toy soldiers?

EDIT -

Out of interest I went to look at how much they cost these days... £15 for five basic space marines! The same set was £5 back when I was playing with them (ten years ago).

Decent voice cast, and I like Dan Abnett. How much does the DVD cost?

Don't bother, I am a fan of some of Dan Abnett's writing but this is woeful. So much potential for a decent film based in the Warhammer universe and we ended up with this.

The size of that ship and so many possibilities and it revolves around a 12 man squad that only see action for limited times

Its utter utter utter tripe.

It fails on every level. Even if you are not a fan of the game its dire.

I have to agree, I love reading his books (in fact most of the 40k books) and was looking forward to this based on some of the utterly stunning cut scenes in various WH40K video games, what could possibly go wrong.

Dissapointed is not a strong enough word. The story is laboured, the action is, erm, small considering the size of most of the engagements in the books. And why oh why did they not at least talk to some of the companies who have done their computer games for ideas on how to actually do it. The company they used to render this movie have produced tripe.

I've seen better modelled computer characters on the bloody Mickey Mouse club. The CGI is just utterly tripe... think computer game cut scene of 10years ago. Skin has no texture and looks like it's been airbrushed by OK magazine, the movements of the characters are just so wrong. They have obviously heard of motion capture but decided not to use it. This is about the best quality you will see in the movie....

and quite frankly once you see that moving you will laugh. It's clunky and crap.

Had they nailed the visuals and given it a sense of realism then maybe this would be worth buying for the "wow" factor of seeing ultramarines in battle... but they didn't... so it's not.

Very sad to say... UTTER BILGE.
