Can Bran still warg into his wolf even though it's (un)dead? That could open up some possibilities.

In fact I think the show is about to leave the petty battles of kings landing and winterfell far behind next season. Can see the wall falling and Danaerys' invasion being kore about saving humanity and less about who sits in a chair.

That really got to me for some reason. Maybe the juxtaposition of Hodor trying to hold the door closed, and being killed by the wights as he did so, with his younger self and the music. Maybe just reflecting that his entire life was F*cked up in order for him to fulfil his role in that one moment in time.

I don't often cry at these things but I did then.
fk me, this thread is hilariously nerdy - you saw the boobs right? smile
And this is the perfect example of why the show is so popular. Million of nerds who love anything fantasy and millions of pervs who are just hoping some bird get's her t**s out.

I happily admit to having a foot in both camps. smile

FWIW I agree with you. That whole scene felt hastily written to me - like something out of LOST. yuck
Funny you should mention LOST - Jack Bender directed the episode and he also directed most of the time travel episodes of LOST

If half of the episode hadn't been in pitch black I might have enjoyed it more
The whole of this series has suffered from some fairly poor cinematography. Maybe they're getting a little bit for their boots and forgetting that it's still TV show, and not a movie to be shown in a controlled environment (ie a darkened cinema)

I'm watching with both blinds and curtains closed (during the day, admittedly) and still struggling.
Glad it's not just me that is having their enjoyment of an otherwise impeccable series ruined by poor visual quality.

Theory:

Bran could be the Lord of Light, talking to Varys through the fire.
We all know it's about interpretation...the interpretation of Brans messages.
The reason we are seeing this brief time in history is because it's the birth of Bran...the one with the power to make it all happen.

Bran yelling out to Ned during the Tower of Joy scene was the moment where Bran realizes that he can change the past. The Bloodraven starts acting shifty when pressed about it and won't give him a straight answer, but in this episode, we see the Bloodraven encourage Bran to warg into Hodor in the past. Thus, the Bloodraven acknowledges that Bran must alter the past in order for this story to unfold.

Bran is The Architect. He not only builds the wall, but he builds this entire story. He's the one who tells Rhaegar that he needs to give birth to a child. He whispers to the Mad King. He makes Varys the Spider. He communicates with the Red Priestesses to help them fulfill the prophecy. This story is Bran's life work. The last Stark heir reaching out from a doomed future to save the past.

That is why a Stark must always be at Winterfell - to ensure Bran is born.
The Mad King, once a good man who grew an obsession with wildfire, his dying words- Burn them All! Jamie says he kept on repeating it even as he died. Maybe all failed attempts at preparing the world for what was to come.

I hope this doesn't end up with some Deus Ex ending, but the amount of things which could have the fingerprints of Bran on them are pretty open-ended!

So basically were getting a 'medieval' version of X-Men 2nd Class

Only if all the theories come to pass, we may only have one causal loop.
My ideas about who will survive have now lost bearing with the new info. I wonder if Bran will even survive the oncoming whatever.

You guys need better tv's. No issues at all for us. It was daylight when we watched and curtains were open.

More likely your TV is set up in 'Vivid' mode or similar which way over-saturates the colours and dramatically increases the brightness.

I have a 3 year old very high end Panasonic plasma using settings designed to give the most natural picture and like others I'm finding there are way too many ultra dark scenes in this series. With all the curtains shut the slightest bit of light reflected off the screen completely drowns out any detail in the image and all I see are the reflections.

More like Days of Future Past. Potentially.

Things I'd like to see in the coming episodes:
More Bran flashbacks giving insight and knowledge to us the viewer.
I like the Lady Stoneheart theory, that please at Blackwater Bay.
The Faith Militant destroyed. I don't see it happening that simply, there must be some twist.
Some White Walker action at the Wall.

I would hazard a guess that the very last scene of the season will be WW at he wall.

The way the dire wolves were found and the coincidence that there were just enough to give one to each stark child (incl ghost for Jon), and because of the way they formed a bond with each of of them, I was expecting great things from them in the story but they all seem to die way too easily and without any contribution to the story. Yes Summer went down with a fight, but rather frivolously as it didn't facilitate Brans escape or save his life. Shaggydog and Lady were beheaded and Grey Wind was killed in a kennel. Really frustrating and a waste of plot line. Nymeria is god knows where after Arya sent her off to fend for herself so only Ghost is left to do something great.

I think the wall will fall this series.

Summer's death allowed several seconds, which was needed at the door.
