Currently sitting here on a very Sunny Saturday morning, start to hear a loud thumping, its gets louder and I can hear the drums and flutes of the good old Orange Order as they march down the road. Mass ranks of sectarian, knuckle dragging, fkwit scum with the combined IQ of an amoeba.

Grew up in a town filled with these Animals in Scotland. Every Sunday they all head off to the Orange Club, stand for the queen and worship King Billy and the flag of the Protestant Religion. One of the saddest things is that 90% of these fkwits have never seen the inside of a church in their sad, pathetic, low life existence, the only thing they actually believe in is hatred and their worship is reserved for Glasgow fking Rangers.

There should be some kind of law that sates if you are such a retarded, hate filled, scum sucking, low life parasite and actually join this brain dead organisation the initiation should take place a gas chamber in order to help with the cleansing of the gene pool.

And they have now passed, deep breath and back to normal life.

Are you worse for ALLOWING yourself to be riled?

I quite like the drums and pipes - and I'm from the "other" part of Ireland.

Suppose in a way, sad thing is a lot of my old friends actually bought into this crap. Some of them where intelligent guys as well. Seen to much of the hate filled side though to be able to listen to them and enjoy the drums. Would be a bit like going along to a Nazi convention and because you like the nice uniforms.

Then again, you have lived with far worse than I have seen and it seems to raising its puss filled ugly head again.

It does seem to be a more strident voice than of late.

Does anyone know what that is the case?

Boredom?

Economy declining a bit?

It's that time of the year?

The Celtic/Rangers thing was elevated to a high level earlier in the year?

Worried that there is a move towards liking the Queen (and Britain in general) south of the border?
(Not that most Irish people have always liked Britain - but now it's officially OK to do so).

I don't really understand why anybody would want to put on a silly outfit and march through the streets waving banners and banging drums, but each to their own.

Its no different to any other year. Other than the press seem to be a bit more likely to print it.

I was at 'that' Celtic Rangers game at Parkhead earlier in the year. As a neutral (guesting with a group of Celtic supporters) it didn't seem any more hate filled than any other derby match I've been to south of the border. If anything the atmosphere was better.

You do quickly realise that it's not really about the fitba, though. Sharing a pub with a LOT of mashed Celtic fans before the match, all the old Irish standards being played by a band in the middle, was a great atmosphere, even if most of the sentiment was against pretty much everything I stand for.

Why don't you surprise them by standing on the side of the road and applauding and cheering them.

a) they would be amazed

b) you would have the psychological upper hand

c) maybe it might actually improve relations

Can I just point out that I am not a catholic, no religious perversions at all in fact. Hole thing disgusts me, having seen people beaten to a pulp just because they do share the same religious view point rather taints your view.

I know - but breaking the cycle of hate and anger has to start somewhere. Why not you?

The last thing these pillocks need is more encouragement.

Being Scottish myself, and having grown up in a town where affiliation to the Orange Order was rife, I can tell you now, most of the people in the bands had no ideological reason to be there, they had no real historical links to the order - they are just a bunch of low life dunderheids who have adopted "the cause".

Did anyone else see the BBC2 (iirc) documentary a few weeks ago about the Orange Order bands in Shankhill?

I don't know if the coverage was deliberately favourable, but they did seem hugely more reasonable than I had expected.

I used to enjoy going to see the twelfth when I was younger, was always a great variety of bands and music plus a good atmosphere about it. Now it's all flute bands playing the sash and a crowd of bigots cheering them on.

I think it will turn into a riot this year sadly, after the rioting a couple of weeks ago they were at it again last night after the mini twelfth.

Whole. If yer gonna rant get the spelling write!

If you ever get the chance to watch M Palins "New Europe" see the last (?) episode about how the "moors" and christians get together to re-enact some age old battle. Gets quite heated at times but in the end they symbolically all throw the swords and shields away and go out on the "razz" together. IE the whole town goes on the razz, all religions/creeds/colours.

I went to see one of those when I was living in Spain. We got to the beach around 6am (they were following through from the night before), to find half the Christians and half the Moors on the beach, waiting to fight off the other half in the boats.

"I'm somewhat confused" I said to my Spanish friend. "Shouldn't all the Moors be fighting all the Christians".

"In theory yes", he replied, "but in practice they just put the least drunk ones in the boats for safety reasons". hehe

Not a direct comparison though, seeing as the people playing the Moors generally aren't actually Moors!
