FYI opium production in Afganistan has exploded since we invaded, with much of the cash going the senior members of the Afghan government. It's become a Narco-state, riddled with corruption from top to bottom. The coalition no longer destroy crops as it ruins poor farmers and creates too much resentment, feeding support for the Taleban.

i dont watch fox news, i'm just willing to bet i am better informed than you on certain elements of this. everything i have read says that opium production is decreasing http://www.telegraph.co.uk/expat/7718523/Afghanist... and whilst i would agree that it rose after the invasion, there was a reason for this and it wasnt funding the taleban. the cash does indeed go to some parts of the government but at the time it was the only resource they had to generate funding. much of the opium went into medicine and pharmaceutical purposes. of course there are people making a lot of money out of this, it would be naive to assume that doesnt happen. plenty of people got very rich from the operations in iraq too, no one is discounting that.

the problem with the land is so many years of growing opium has seriously affected the soil. its not simply a case of stopping growing opium and start planting carrots and veg...

you have your agenda, fine, but read a range of articles and not just whatever suits your argument.
