Yep - when the UK decides not to sell to someone, the French usually step in to fill the gap.

The same thing happened when the UK stopped selling aircraft to Israel and South Africa.

It's all well and good having ethical standards about who we chose to do business with - but we do end up paying the price eventually.

We did, although admittedly nowhere near the value of military aircraft sales by the French and Italians. Really my point was about arming Gadaffi (and his ilk) generally, and we certainly did plenty of that in the last decade.
